Jack Cogger is has no contract for 2021. I’m sure tons of old Magpie fans wouldn’t mind cheering on another Cogger.

I’m an old tiger and I’d cheer on a Cogger!!!
Is he any good?

No, which is why he cant even crack it at Dogs

Hooper reporting Staines looking for 4 year contract, $500k per season.

What’s he played, two games? Even $300k a season is overs.

We need to pay up to get talent, even if it's potential talent.

If you were interviewing for the same type of job with 5 different employers and got 5 offers, what would make you take the job with the least desirable employer? Money.

Unless we take some risks and buy on potential, we're going to be left with older, broken players and other clubs cast offs. Gotta role the dice otherwise we'll be crap forever.

I don’t see him being offered that anywhere. Give him $1.2million over 4 years. We need to take risk for sure and I think paying him even that is a risk, he can’t be expecting 500 grand a season.

Sign him now.Bargain

Wow, after 2 games on the wing.

You would think people would be hesitant with long term high value contracts after Packer, Mbye and Reynolds.

Whist at the time that threesome seemed a good get but hindsight is a wonderful thing Young Staines is at the beginning of his career $500k is not bad to try and secure a player with potential he has shown and looks a bargain when you consider what we are paying the threesome

Player managers are complete gronks.
But considering what we are paying others ,I’d take that gamble on potential alone
In two years he could be one of the best fullbacks in the game for 500 a season 🤗
I’ll try anything at this point 😂

If he's played FB all his career it's a no brainier for me.

It might be slightly overs, but that's what happens when your not a "destination" club that hasn't played finals forever.

If I was throwing $500K at a young player I'd rather it be someone like Clifford from the cows. He seems on the outer for unknown reasons up there even with Springwater stinking it up at FB.

Maybe they'd take Brooks off our hands

Staines is a fullback who can play wing. He has a great junior rep resume. Ponga MK2?

We have Hartigan and Maguire in charge who I have great confidence in to get the best outcome for WTs.

The Knights signed Ponga for $700k a season after only playing two games. They took the risk and blew everyone out of the water. The year they bought him the Knights won only 1 game, this year they will play finals football.

We are as undesirable now as the Knights were in 2016.

If the reports are true and we are paying $600k for Leilua next year, $500k for one of the most highly touted young fullbacks in the game seems reasonable to me.

Clifford is no star. Staines will be, so will Burton.

Staines and Burton know each other's games inside out. if we're able to secure Burton that might just deliver us Staines as well. a spine of

Staines
Doueihi
Burton
Liddle

would look after us long term for sure. fingers crossed Madge and Hartigan are working hard behind the scenes to make it a reality.

That would be a fantastic, long term spine.

So Barrett has said he wont raid Penrith's squad but surely that won't stop the Bulldogs chasing Burton. If he wants to follow Barrett it's not up to any one else to stop it happening.

I think it would be fair game because panthers have gRanted them to look because spots are taken and they can sort out their cap.

We'll get Burton, big chance Staines, Laurie will stay.

mate i hope your mail comes to through could be a game-changer ***kids looks like exactly what we need.***

How can you tell that from 5 games? I’m not trying to be a wet blanket, but people need to chill a bit.

Most people on here thought they could tell after 5 games from Grant.

Grant is a different kettle of fish. Burton has made headlines the way Harry has.

Burton's a 50/50. Ok attack & good kicking game but is a liability in defense.
Staines is too early to tell. Nice debut but there's a lot who've had great debuts over the years and never kicked on. He'd be good for us but that's a lot of cap space for a rookie outside back
Clifford I rate and we need better halves before outside backs.
Young wingers & fullbacks come through every year. There's always another good one around the corner

Looks like a team that has won 4 games all year have confidence in their Coach to extend him till 2024..

Only in Rugby League..

Good Luck Titans

5 Coaches sacked in 2020...win 4 games extension..

Yea a bit strange - you think they would have waited until next year to see how he goes with his new "star studded" team.

Stains is only 184cm...just on 6ft ..too short..???

Tbf, it’s possible he was signed before last weekend. But it’s ironic, given a Dogs supporter came on this very forum only a day or two ago laughing at us for taking Mbye off their hands and how he hopes we have lube. Who needs lube now?

Yea i pointed out the irony to him by telling him they had signed Green and there was a possibility he wouldnt even get on the field. Didn't get a reply.

He'd be a little taller than Slater and Papenhuyzen? It doesn't seem to impact their games.

He doesn’t look like the next Ponga to me but I understand what you’re saying my point is more we shouldn’t pay that money if we don’t have to. I don’t see him getting offered that, maybe do a long deal where it’s $300k first year and goes up $100k every season over 4 years.

Size isn’t important it’s power that matters. Paps is small but powerful and hard to handle. Staines is quick but not sure how good he is at busting tackles but he looks a talent for sure.
