Doueihi needs to become a much better ballplayer if we're going to run him at 6. I like the idea of grabbing Staines and Burton, but we need to be careful with how green our spine would be. The Tigers had a relatively young spine when we won the comp in 05, but Hodgson and Prince had both played state of origin and Marshall and Farah have gone on to become 2 legends of the game. Obviously we didn't know they'd be that good then, but with the benefit of hindsight it's pretty clear that a young spine having success like that is more the exception than it is the rule and they were all great players.

If we're planning to write-off next year and probably not really be a contender until 2023, then I can see the logic. But what's the point of creating a young team and then by the time they're ready to compete, they're all gonna come off contract. We need a mix of young, improving players who exceed their cap number and veterans who are win now players to continually compete. Otherwise you just end up at square 1 again (see what happened to us after 2013/14 when we ushered in the Big 4).

If Doueihi was moved to 5/8 we would need to look at new outside backs. He is to tall.

With the news out today in the media about Tigers Boss still hasn't spoken to Cleary since he left concern any of you ? I was thinking it may have an impact on us recruiting some of the young players they have on there books that we are after.
If one of the players gets an offer from Tigers and lets say Dogs for similar salary etc I would be inclined to say they may push him to the Dogs or might even play hard ball and not release him early to us in spite.

I hope this is not the case but had me thinking because we need everything in our power to help with recruitment and maybe its time for Pascoe and Clearly to have a chat and settle a few things.

ps. I know there release Blore to us early this year but just asking thoughts that's all

If Barrett rumours are true he has supposedly agreed not to poach Panthers players so Dogs may not be a problem in that regard.

Understand that but used Dogs as an example. could be any team

I don't believe Ivan has a problem with the Tigers given we permitted him to walk away from his contract with 2.5 years still remaining. As you stated the Panther released Blore so if another player Panthers player requests a release to sign with the Tigers I'm sure that Cleary will assess what's best for his club and the player in making any decision.

Not a matter of whether he is a good bloke or not (given what all Tigers supporters think of him). It is a matter at the end of the day on what Cleary believes is best for the Panthers and if releasing a player that is currently not regularly in their top 17 then he would as would all coaches weigh up what is best for the club and then the player!!

I'd like to see a signing like Liam Farrell for a couple of years. I think he'd be a great leader for our young forward pack and add some toughness and determination. Smaller forwards like him can't coast through games relying on their size, they need to commit to every contact or they'll get belted. Hopefully that attitude could be inspired in others.

I also don't care what is important for any other club other than the Tigers but my response was in regards to the original post being would the Panthers release players given what has transpired between Cleary and Pascoe.

I'm kind of stunned that people on here still give the cretins at the DT any air at all. The club has had issues over the DT producing garbage after garbage in the past. The WT don't give them exclusives and they're left to dig for crumbs and make up their own agenda. SMH get factual information from the club...

We're not obliged to prove every pundit wrong. Buzz Rothfield, I watched that twitter out of curiosity, he looks and sounds like that drunk down at the local who makes barely coherent comments whilst you wait for your beer to be poured.

Somehow, year on year, the DT actually manages to get worse. It's basically the Women's Day of newspapers, all inconsequential rumour-mongering, outdated opinions and PG-rated scandal.

As those names don't suit some posters, we have the usual Nuffies being discussed for pages for what end? - Sezer, Hastings, Johnston

You forgot Widdop . The same guy who is 31 , lead his team to 13th and was generally horrendous for 2 years. But cause He’s playing average in England then he’s our saviour.
The Hastings stuff I kind of get , as he wasn’t rubbish before he left . Just got one of the fakest blokes in football offside , and the coach had to punt him to save his job . Only for him to leave a few months later anyway.

It would be Hartigan or Maguire approaching Cleary or the Panthers' football manager.

Forgot Widdop, he could run across field from left to right while Nofaloama runs across field from right to left.

I believe we need a goal-kicker, a genuine ball-playing lock, a halfback with some creative spark, some pace on the edges and an experienced or representative level prop forward to help lead the younger lads.

TBH I'm not a fan of Hastings or Widdop, and to a lesser extent Proctor.
I think if Brooks is staying we keep him at 5/8 and get someone capable of taking the reins, and I honestly don't feel Hastings or Widdop are up to it. I've also seen Clifford's name thrown around and that would be worse for the team IMO.
Mbye's not helping his case and IDK why we aren't trying to swap him for a Connor Watson or Drinkwater type.
