Staines re-injured his hamstring already. Only young and they might fix it up but having a lot of issues with it already, might make him put his asking price down a little.

A certain fullback running around for the Storm had big problems with his hamstrings while at the WT. With the right rehab he has transformed himself into one of the best fullbacks in the game right now. Staines has youth on his side and can certainly get stronger over the next couple of years. Just needs the right rehab and strength program.

Our center of excellence will fix that 🙂

No, it won't. Equipment is only part of the solution. You've got to have smart trainers and conditioners that can devise management plans to suit a player's strengths and weaknesses and develop the players to reach their peak physical condition.

Do we have such trainers currently? I doubt it. We largely look very unfit.

Andrew Gray..

One of the highest rated performance coaches in the league. Players have talked him up.

Damn, maybe we should have persisted with Kyle Lovett

If the half wit JT was still coach we probably would be still trying him in the 2nd row and centers

He was at Cronulla and Saints when they both won their premierships, so atleast we have people who know what it takes now

our football department has improved out of sight in the last 12 months. Gray, Hartigan and Woodward are examples of this. hopefully Madge can bring in some fresh assistants and continue to turnover the squad, because the premiership window might open up earlier than we think.

i don't disagree mate. I think it proves though sometimes in the past we as a club and certainly some on this forum are far too quick to want to get rid of players instead of a bit of patience and development, particularly young forwards whose bodies often don't reach peak until late 20's .

We could have done more to keep N Brown, Paseka, Tatola and R Stone! However, I would not keep Sironens, MCK, Garner > Sironens

Disagree with that.

Bayley sironen is off contract next year

I never really rated him when he was with us, seemed like a plodder but he’s a starter for souffs now and pumps out pretty good stats

Do we consider him? or have we burnt too many bridges with the Siros?

Why not? It's what we do isn't it? Let them go then buy them back for more? Thank god we have new people and strategy in recruitment now.

Obviously not saying we should go full throttle and sign them...but they are much, much more complete players now

He’s Captain coach of Blayney Bears, in Group 10 competition.

Not sure that we look unfit. I think its easy to confuse fitness with effort, hunger or desire sometimes. For most teams it depends what side of the possession and field position stats you’re on. Repeated Defensive efforts when possession is lopsided can make one side look “unfit” but then when things turn all of a sudden they find their attack and score a few tries just as we have done recently. A good example is the game a few weeks back between the Roosters and Storm where the Storm had the momentum and hammered the Roosters who were looking like they were just hanging on for most of the game - you wouldn’t say the Roosters squad were unfit however.

Teams being unfit is a rugby league myth, especially this late in the season

You could excuse the first couple rounds, and players coming back from long lay offs but that’s about it

Just further on the fitness issue....
The Panthers have looked like a very fit side but i would argue that they have managed possession and field position very well and have rarely looked under the pump. Sure it depends on the make up of your team, athlete wise that is, we are relying on guys like Packer in our prop rotation to play decent minutes.

I don’t think they are unfit but they lack endurance imo

Maybe Hobbo but perhaps endurance relates to attitude and effort. I mean how much you are willing to push yourself has a big bearing on endurance!

Fitness has been our strength this year and we have often finished stronger then our opposition. We have problems but our conditioning isnt one of them. Just the last 2 weeks we have finished alll over the top of Manly and Souths

Souths have to make room as Arrow joins them next year.

If Garner, Eiso, Mac, MCK & with ET/Chris and a few others leave then we will be very lite on in backrowers.

Our team is going to look very different in 2yrs time to what it does this season

What do we make of this....Harry's agent has spoken to the Titans, Broncos Cowboys and Manly. The scramble is on.... Maybe Cam has made his mind up!

If I was his manager would be doing the same.
Harry would be able to obtain a serious upgrade and some clubs have money & need a good number 9.

He'll be a Rooster at some stage in the next 2 or 3 years.

If I am Harrys agent id be speaking to every club in the NRL to suss out his worth - remeber even if he stays at Strom he is going to want a massive upgrade
