Talau is competing with AJ for left wing in NSW Cup next year in most peoples teams and yet we wont swap him for the test winger ????

Teaching someone to catch is straightforward. He is young and is a quick learner.

Genuine pace, size and finishing cannot be coached.

Watch JAC scorch Nofoaluma. That's why Kepaoa is so valuable.

If it was so straight forward, why hasn’t he learned it yet?

Vunivalu also scorched AJ.

Given both AJ and Talau are at similar levels of development and not really ready for first grade, I don’t now how we can run with both next year.

If we could loan one of them to Storm for a year and get JAC it’s a big win IMO.

I think nofo too slow for the wing maybe let him go.

Talau too slow for backs to I’d be developing him for forwards but who knows how that’ll turn out

I would really like to see this in 21

1. New fullback signing/possibly Staines
2.Nofa
3.Kepaoa
4.Douehi
5.Addo-Carr

Really think the centres would both kill it and have class outside them

Man JAC made nofo look really really slow.

He is slow.

JAC makes 99% of NRL plays look slow

PS - I dont want staines at the money his manager is asking for him

If he wasn’t able to catch the Roosters wouldn’t have had him in their top grade squad. Alot of wingers drop alot of balls. Vatuvai was notorios for it. JAC for the 1st 5 weeks after covid dropped everything. Fergo has been dropping them all season.

He will be fine. Playing outside of Benji you need to be ready for the ball to go into the stands, on the ground or on the chest. He has been with us for 4 weeks and would be lucky to name a play & thrown into the deep end. He has that spark we need in the backline. But issue is it’s another “potential kid” to wait and see.

We could send Aj and Talau to Storm and still have a backline of
Mbye
Nofa
Joey
Momorovski
JAC
Douehi
Brooks

In reality all those above are more established 1st graders then Talau and AJ and it still leaves Reynolds, Cini, Madden, Bradley, Hoffman as backup

I’m not writing him off, just think he is at least 2 years away from where we’d need him to be to make a good fist of that left wing position and given our history of developing potential it’s questionable if he ever gets there.

Storm aren't based in Melbourne at the moment anyway
If storm based themselves in Sydney next year then joining them on a loan shouldn't be an issue
If we get on top of Covid then it wouldn't be an issue either
Alot of ifs but things can change

Staines re-injured his hamstring already. Only young and they might fix it up but having a lot of issues with it already, might make him put his asking price down a little.

A certain fullback running around for the Storm had big problems with his hamstrings while at the WT. With the right rehab he has transformed himself into one of the best fullbacks in the game right now. Staines has youth on his side and can certainly get stronger over the next couple of years. Just needs the right rehab and strength program.

Our center of excellence will fix that 🙂

No, it won't. Equipment is only part of the solution. You've got to have smart trainers and conditioners that can devise management plans to suit a player's strengths and weaknesses and develop the players to reach their peak physical condition.

Do we have such trainers currently? I doubt it. **We largely look very unfit.**

Disagree with that.

We're either unfit or completely disorganised and disinterested in defending. We have the worst linespeed in the comp. By a long way. Why do we constantly stand still and let attackers charge into us? Even people who've never watched league before have asked me why tigers players don't push up to tackle opponents earlier, like every other team does most of the time?

Our pack gets destroyed by most teams. Why? Aggression and linespeed. We lack aggression in both attack and defence. Linespeed doesn't take anything other than fitness. It's running. While of course no team can play at full intensity 100% of the time, every team is able to maintain their energy for much longer periods than we can. Why is that?

That would be even worse if you had to live in Melbourne.

I watch Nico Hynes quite closely yesterday he's a very decent FB better than Mbye & Doueihi IMO. Mbye can't catch and Doueihi is constantly caught out of position. If we get JAC what's there to suggest he'd be any better at FB. I'm not sure of his contract situation the storm have probably locked him down but he'd be worth having a crack at.

The big thing I look for in a fullback is urgency to get into position behind the play in both defense and attack.

In attack this creates a 2nd/3rd play option

In defense it prevents the kick behind the line and enables cover defense

Hynes urgency his last few games has been brilliant.

AD & Mbye however don’t have that

there was an interview on the radio saying he's talented, but has a tendency to take the wrong option.

We recruit these youngsters because it is the only way we can obtain the talent WTs need to improve. Kepaoa is learning so he will make mistakes as will Talau. What Kepaoa has demonstrated so far suggests he will be a diamond.
