Bird has been out of the game for a long time with injuries however if it was a straight swap with both teams covering the same salary they are now I think this is worth a shot.

Can I just say if Cam plays on and we somehow keep Grant and from there do sign Suaalii.... we’ll potentially have 2 of the biggest prospects in the NRL setting us up for future success building the team around those two players could be devastating for the opposition

Very good point, Momo. The media has their fingerprints all over this and may yet have *some* influence on the outcome along the line... Souths are relying on seriously compromised vested interests from outside the club that could very well cause it to implode when Wayne sails off into the sunset!

I am sure i read somewhere that Birds injury problems stem from a rare form of arthritis,if that is the case he wont be coming good as it was supposed to be very difficult to treat

I think I read that as well. I'd probably still do the swap... with Bird only contracted for next year, it's a win for sure.

It would depend who else we sign, right now Mbye is our best fullback and is a first grade standard player in several positions.

$1M for a centre with ongoing injury issues with arthritis and a chest bone problem coming off an ACL sounds desperate to get rid of Mbye.

Mbye was good for 14/15 games he played last year. He always deserved a spot in the team and we might have done better with Doueihi at 5/8 and Mbye at fullback. Madge gave Doueihi a good run to develop and take ownership of fullback and we were also short on centres and had too many (almost first grade) 5/8s.

Mason Lino could excell with a consistent starting spot.

I'm not sure why the Knights didn't try to turn him into a hooker. It would have disrupted the team less than using Kurt Mann and he is their best goal kicker.
