I’ve lost all respect for Reynolds. The guy has no integrity and is happy to do nothing for his pay cheque. The club can’t make it any clearer that he isn’t wanted. Yet he is happy to be 18th man , earning $25k a week doing absolutely nothing.
I'd be happy if we could move Josh R along but nothing I've seen from him suggests he's happy being 18th man.
The fact he was signed by the previous coach and doesn't appear to be in the plans of the current coach doesn't mean he's not keen to get on the field. In fact I'd say it's killing him not being able - or picked - to play.
It’s josh Reynolds, all he wants to do is play footy. Madge regularly applauds him for how hard he works at training and Ronnie Palmer called him the fittest at the club. Those aren’t the characteristics of a guy who’s happy to sit on the bench and not play.
Disagree. It does not look like that at all to me. Madge and co say good things about him publicly, like they say good things about Packer, because you have no chance of ever getting another club interested in them if you don't. Even then no other club is interested anyway.
It's been made abundantly clear to both of them that the coach wants them out of the club, it's been made clear by them not being picked very often at all in the run on team.
If all Reynolds wants to do is play footy, then why does he stay at a club where he is clearly not wanted? Where he a lot of the time is not even chosen to play footy? He is on a good wicket with the money he is on, he has no better options, and he's just riding it out. Hard to condemn him, as it it Ivan's fault, but there's certainly no dignity in it. Personally I'll be glad to see both their names off our books.
To be fair why would he go to England if he’s found a girl here and has good business going here can’t force him to move, and he has been offered to other clubs and I’m sure he would be keen to move if another club wants him, problem is none of them do.
At this point in time his only choice is to stay at WT, that doesn’t mean he’s moping around and doesn’t care about playing all he does his work to
Get back into the team and every coach and player says the same thing.
I know it would be nice to have him off our books but let’s not question his character or dignity, not one of us would do any different in his situation.
I dont like him as a player and I dont like him as a bloke (mutual acquaintances) but I would agree up until lately that in difficult circumstances he has seemed to maintain a reasonable attitude and put in, however him leaving at half time at Brooky, coupled with the reports that he was a no show at the awards night indicate to me that he has thrown in the towel and is a passenger collecting his salary.
Yes he is paid way too much, not his fault, but the club hasn't really treated him fairly in his time here, but for the most part he just copped it and trained hard. I have never seen any other club treat a supposed marquee signing like we have treated him, his continual non selection even though the bloke ahead of him was in worse form would have been hard to take. So if he has said to himself I am staying and collecting my money, I can't blame him,
Entitled to your opinion 851, mines different. Even though Benji wasnt in great form (particularly defensively) I would still have picked Benji over Reynolds everyday. Benji offers a lot more in attack and has a better (stull not great) kicking game. I dont think there is that much in it, your opinion is valid, they both have strengths and weaknesses but for me the point is that JR wasnt not excelling to the point of demanding week in week out selection.
The other critical thing is, you say he "trained hard". How do you know this? Maybe that is the reason he didnt get picked. Maybe his training efforts were in line with what we saw at Brooky and the awards night. You and I dont know, but that is possible and would explain his non selection (his lack of ability would be the other possibility).
I dont blame him for hanging around and collecting his money, its a contract. If his leaving Brooky at half time and not showing up at the awards night is an indication of his attitude, I DO blame him for that. I see no evidence that he has been treated badly by the club.
I have seen no proof he left the awards night, Madge said he trained very well, and we looked our best this year with Brooks and Grub in the halves, almost rolled Penrith.
Benji has his moments, but shocking defence and low percentage plays are just not cutting it at NRL level, he should have been dropped.
But looking forward Grub was keen to go back to the dogs, but the dogs board stopped it, no club is willing to take him, what is he supposed to do, walk away and give up $800k
