What if we took Reimis Smith or Dallin Watene-Zelezniak then offered one of them to the Storm? would that be wrong?

What if we took one of them and they didn't want to go to melbourne or melbourne didn't want them? We'd be stuck with them on our cap so bye-bye JAC.
What about if we took Reimis Smith or Dallin Watene-Zelezniak then offered one of them to the Storm and rest of the players saw that, that's the way we treat new signings? How would that affect trying to sign new players in the future?

Josh king spoke at my sons u/15s dinner last night. Said he was never the first chosen but always trained hard and worked his way into teams. Played 2nd div u15s and won every game then 1st div next season and never won a game was a year he remembered as helping his drive to achieve.Spoke very well after he was promted with questions. Played some games for knights but I don’t recall seeing him play.
Off contract and there is a record number currently off contract in nrl atm.
Talk ended when someone suggested eels would be a good club to go to and everyone laughed.

I think 300k for Benji is a fair price but he can't be picky at his age and realistically should be taking any offer.

Geez i like the way Melbourne recruit - Jarome Hughes is apparently only on 350k a season and off contract at end of next year. He is looking at getting a bigger contract and if Melbourne don't offer what he wants he is a good chance to move on. So what do Melbourne do - they sign a rookie half from the Knights system who everyone says is a gun footballer and will definitely be NRL ready in a year or two. We are starting to move in the same direction but Melbourne make these decisions a year or 2 out from when they need to replace to give the player time to become accustomed with their system.

Melbourne are better at targeting "signings for the future" than any other club.That is what we need to emulate and i feel Madge is going in that direction.Time will tell but i am optimistic and it has to be a better approach than the "stop gap" signings we have been trying for the last 7-8 years

Dallin Watene Zelezniak has popped up a bit here in this thread. I don't know what happened this year and I admit I did not watch many Bulldogs games. However, the bloke can play as seen in his days at Penrith and playing for New Zealand. Could be a good pick up at the right price, considering his connection with Madge. Throw in Meaney and we are starting to get a bit of depth in the backs.

DWZ has been at b est "pathetic" this year - you must not have seen too many Dogs games at all Krammy.

Wouldn't touch him with a barge poll.

Really like Meaney but We don't have a spot for him.

Trouble is - if we took one of these guys - Storm would say no.

Then we are left with a Nuffie and one spot less.

That would be as bad as keeping Bludger Jennings.
