2021 Gains
William Kei (2021), James Tamou (Penrith Panthers, 2022), Kelma Tuilagi (2021), Stefano Utoikamanu (Parramatta Eels, 2023)

These are our gains for 2021, think we also keep forgetting we signed Stefano from Parramatta another quality pick up.

Off Contract 2021
Josh Aloiai, Shawn Blore, Kane Bradley, Michael Chee-Kam, Zac Cini, William Kei, Jacob Liddle, Jock Madden, Thomas Mikaele, Zane Musgrove, David Nofoaluma, Russell Packer, Josh Reynolds, Kelma Tuilagi, Billy Walters.

Also can't see us keeping the following in 2022.
Chee-Kam, Cini, Packer, Reynolds, Walters.

Retention
Aloiai, Blore, Liddle, Nofoaluma.

Sitting on the fence with the others see how they perform next season.
Madden, Mikaele, Musgrove, Others don't know if they make starting team to judge but Kei looks good in clips.

We also picked up AJ early, he was meant to be a 2021 signing.

Same with Blore.

I thought weeks ago maybe recruitment puts the que in the rack if we miss out on JAC for 2021 and look towards 2022
not much left for us 2021 if we miss JAC

Was thinking the same but what concerns me is the 2022 players available have been on the market for 9 days now and nothing... We haven't even announced any resigning ..
It looks like it might be a domino effect thing once JAC makes up his mind or Storm release him.. TBH I was kinda hoping we would have announced something by now as we seem to be the only club not talking.

Have any other clubs announced new 2022 signings? I do hope we are in talks with certain players to re-sign them, but Madge might be waiting for pre season and to see who performs next season In 2019 he re-signed a lot of guys kinda mid season so maybe the same again?

So Blake Green spivs Dogs and stays at Kights on the promise of a coaching job when his playing days are done. Cap penalties anyone?

That's not a great idea if they sign elsewhere in the meantime.

Ah, it's probably okay, if the Knights have already told the NRL what the NRL should already know.

Dodgy as...

The cupboard is looking extremely bare for 2021.

Apart from Tamou, all we've signed rookies that other clubs obviously didn't see as priorities.

Unless there are a few decent signings on the way, we're going to be battling for the spoon.

Well i think the policy is that if players are not worth signing from other clubs apart from JAC that's been tabled there is not much room within our cap to go on a spending spree like the bulldogs have done.

I have nil expectations making the 8 next year and do think we will finish somewhere where we did the this year.

The following year we will have some room and a new Centre of Excellence with facilities to attract some talent.

Suppose we just have to be patient until the following year.

Waiting for a centre of excellence to save us could be like waiting for Godot.

All the other clubs are buidding coes. Some even have a massive head start on us in running a successful coe (e.g Penrith).

Bottom line is that, as it stands, we're going into 2021 with our weakest roster for many years.

That’s why the club needs to be in some kind of talks with the players at all times, even if it’s not offering them a contract figure out what they’re doing what clubs have approached them etc. I’m sure they won’t accidentally lose anyone who wanted to stay without ever talking to them

Stefano is one of the highest rated rookies around to be fair eels were filthy he left but besides that yeah not many gains for next season, guess you can count AJ too he’s not been here long

The hope will be that we can get JAC and that our young guys will develop nicely

Josh I just wrote a post in the"Rabs ace forced out"thread they have farewelled 7 players before the 2021 season, this made me think that they are trying to fit JAC into the club...only speculating but we know what he thinks of the brothers..

Besides Robert’s $550k and Lowe $300k?, the rest are on bugger all, minimum wage, Arrow coming on $800k, they have to replace the other players remember

And upgrade Mitchell.

Last year there was heaps of young guys training with the NRL squad, probably doing the same thing again. Might be a few young guys who stand out and earn a deal playing 20’s or reserve grade. We had a few guys on train and trial deals last year like brad abbey

I wonder if he is related to Jody Rudd, ex Norths, Illawarra and Balmain centre or winger originally from Leeton. Harry is a 7.

I don’t think our roster is that bad to be honest

Aloiai-Twal-Leilua-Garner-Utoikamanu-Musgrove-Tamou
That’s not the worst forward pack we’ve had in the last 4 or 5 years In fact it’s probably the best we’ve had for a long time.

Doueihi-Nof-Talau-Leilua-Momo-Mbye-Brooks-Kepaoa
Reynolds

It’s in the backs were we will win or lose games, where some of these guys are picked and how much positional changing takes place.

Everyone sees things from different angles, I reckon our roster is not too bad and if we learn how to edge our those games we shouldn’t lose we just might make the 8
