Honestly we need to be going hard after Angus Crichton. Forget Mansour etc.
A right edge of Douehi, Crichton, Roberts and Nofa would be top 4 stuff

Agree, Rorters don't let many good ones go though. Jayden Sua / Hudson Young more realistic choices. Both off-contract 2022, throw 650 at Jayden and 500 at Hudson, 3 plus 1 year in the club's favour with incentives. Both are young and are footballers, clubs won/t want to lose them but money talks.

I feel as if that doesn't do us any favours. Luc is just as good as them if not better. If we don't go after huge names like Crichton we should be going after young, cheap talent. Paying mid tier players big money is where this club keeps going wrong. The Roosters and the Storm are just a team of superstars and then very low wage players who play way above their salary. That's the key to winning

Agree with what you are saying and I'm not saying get both. But I do think either will be exceptional players and their next contract will be their first opportunity at a decent contract. Get in early before they become the next Angus...

No guarantee they do become the next Crichton though. I'd rather spend the money on a known superstar than spend 500-650k on someone decent. If you want to take a punt on a a player with upside go looking for other Luc Leilua's and get then on 200k

Disagree, disagree strongly.

If you want to finish higher than ninth youve got to take chances. The biggest being to back the recruitment arm of the club and their identification of talent.

It IS ONLY identification of talent that will lift this club up.

Once identified, unique and top end talent that others clubs are aware of can only be recruited to the club paying good money.

750k for a S.Crichton for instance is outstanding business if you end up with his signature.

Please, S.Chricton over 2 seasons is still unproven, and definitely not worth $750K p/y

One good season in a crazy COVID year is far from stats to hang your hat on, he was part of an excellent pack and spine and benefited from it in 2020

$750K... thank god you're not running our recruitment

As if I could do worse than Packer, Mybe , Reynolds etc.

I could close my eyes and recruit better.

Keep on enjoying 9th

You're mentality is why we are where are right now.

My mentality is that we need to continue to build our core from the inside with juniors, pick up players that are talented and undervalued, and then sign potential stars that aren't overpriced

I trust Madge's and Hartigan's process, but 750k for S.Chricton is crazy talk

Whatever you're smoking please pass it on

If we are being honest I think my 3 year old daughter could have scored a lot of those tries. I don’t mind mansour but how that’s called a highlight reel is beyond me lol

Two almost Nofa-like midfield runs and about a dozen Robert Jennings line fall over tries. Winter is Coming,

But, $750k for Crichton... what are smoking, and can I have some?

There was a real Robert Jennings vibe to that video. And it was 4 years ago. No thanks.

***You're mentality is why we are where we are right now.***

Dammit @Leck , its all your fault!

He seems a good bloke too.

I think madge doesn’t mind a veteran winger and he knows how to pick them (lote).

I think beyond the preconceived opinions of him on here you will find he has more upside than AJ.

If Mansour is signed!
Why let Jennings go?
Why potentially block Talau, Momirovski or any other player who’s coming through?
Why help Penrith?
Why sign a winger when we need a fullback.
Too many question marks on signing him.
It has to be reverse psychology from the club to mention we’re interested in him.
At least I hope that’s the reason.

More upside than AJ? Seriously, how?

Jennings/mansour nothing to do with each other
Talau not a winger
Momo or anyone else are they grand final wingers?
Why help panthers - agree but may release Laurie which would assist fb problem

The only way it would make sense is on a short deal, as a backup, very well subsidised and allows us to get Laurie early.

How does that help us get Laurie early? Was there a clause or something or did Penrith say if we take mansour we get him early ?

AJ had like 4 or 5 games while showed improvement hasn’t totally proven himself.

Mansour has established himself played finals and still got it.

Pretty clear I thought

Mansour is still contracted, so Laurie could be a sweetner. Like our Gibbs & Fafita offload.

Rumour they might release both if we take mansour of their books.

I’d say we want 2 and he wants 3.

Yeah, I think you're probably right. No way he gets 3. Even reluctant to do 2.
