Who ever plays fullback next year I feel is just a stop gap solution anyways as ***Laurie looks the real deal to me*** when he arrives in ‘21

Im starting to get a bit nervous for Laurie. You guys realise that he has played a total of 1 game at fullback in the NRL?

Madge sees plenty in him. The panthers fans are hating that he is going. I reckon he will go ok.

any truth to the rumour we are signing benji for one year and letting walters go to broncos

Say whaaaat? Where did you hear this?

mate probably rubbish just Jimmy Smith was talking about it on SEN radio this morning now that Reynolds is gone and walters wants to play with his dad

Did he say we actually want Benji or was it a suggestion?

He said benji was keen and was talking to the club, and the club had reached out as a replacement for walters as he was confident he was leaving for Brisbane.
No mention of us in relation to money for benji though so it is probably not true in any case

So we get Staggs as a trade
No
How about Isaako ?
Milford ? As a clean swap for 12 months?

Milford I don't mind if it's a one year deal with the Broncs paying most of the freight as it reduces the risk and could be a fullback solution

Madge would get him fit and he'd be playing for is future

I havent seen him play a good game in years,so why would he suddenly do it if he came here?

With all the talented kids coming through why would we be this type of player? We have been ruined by buying discards,Packee,Moses,Reynolds,Jennings ,and people are suggesting,Milford,MAnsour etc.If clubs dont want them why do we?Look at signed talent-Laurie,Tannous,Kei.Fitzpatrick ,and others, some will make it ,some won;t .But you won;t develope a superstar from rejects

Do not rely on the so called talented kids.. around 10% and that is probable generous will make the grade ! This has always been the case so a smart club do sign proven performers to fill voids . Unfortunately Cleary was a disaster this was the exemption rather than the rule .

Normally i would agree, the reason i think this could be different is that we had mediocre talent in the lower grades for many years.Penrith would be seething at losing Laurie. We have bought wisely in the forwards to strengthen the top side ,and the recruiment in the lower grades has been outstanding.

His statistics are off the chart, they make Crichton as brilliant as he is look ordinary. He was only a develoment player but he was something out of the box. Look it up in nrl news.

Munster would by my suggestion

It's that risk reward equation again

I'd take Munster in a heartbeat on Milford money

In reality though, Munster $1 million+ per year for 4-5 years, high reward pretty low risk maybe until the tail of the deal
Milford on $250k for one season, probably low reward but there's a chance, but low risk given the dollars

How did I become the Milford guy? I'm more making a case for high upside players who are off the boil coming short term on low dollars being low risk

If they pay off happy days, if not they've gone in 12 months

Talking Milford it seems is like questioning vaccinations

1.5mill for Munster

We already have 12 players fighting for their future,we don't need anymore. 12off contract at end of 2021 and at least 6 to be upgraded and room to buy elite players if needed.

I get you,but Mbye an Milford are almost twins. Both found wanting atFB,5/8,9.centre and wing, and both have lost that extra yard in pace that gave them the edge 3 yrs ago Still quick but just going through the motions. When they get to this stage its when you give the young guys a chance,or we lose them.its called incentive.

I get the risk but Milford is 26, it's similar logic to James Roberts at 27 and all comes down to the price. If he's cheap and he fails on a one year deal, I doubt he blocks others

I'd take him at fullback over Mbye which seems where we are heading and where we can still fall back to

Same as Jimmy to me low risk on the right dollars.Packer, Moses & JRey were never right dollars and Mansour at 30 feels like he's definitely on the way down

On form over the last couple of years there are not many full backs that Mbye is better than - Milford is probably the only one.

Would not touch him with a barge pole.

He'd be pretty silly to not consider it. for $1.5m a year. From WT perspective he's easy worth it.

Is this the end for MCK? Can't seem him starting at centre over Joey, Roberts, MoMo or Talau. And doesn't fit anywhere in the front pack.

A shame, he isn't the most skilled player but I admire his tenacity and willingness to cover the wholes where ever they may be.

I think even he recognises he is depth at best, otherwise why would he sign here again...unless hasn’t been offered elsewhere

He is more than capable of filling a hole when needed, but agree don’t see him in our strongest 17 ever

'Life's not all about money': Benji Marshall opens up on future
By Zachary Gates

Legendary playmaker Benji Marshall has spoken for the first time since knocking back a monster pay deal with Super League club Hull FC, declaring "life's not all about money". Hopes of Marshall's illustrious NRL career ending on a fairytale note at Wests Tigers were dashed when coach Michael Maguire in August told him he wouldn't be offered a contract for 2021.

And while the 2005 premiership hero was reportedly in talks to join the North Queensland Cowboys on a $150,000 contract, and later Hull on a blockbuster $722,000 deal, neither agreement eventuated. Marshall said he had opted to prioritise family over money. "Life's not all about money and when I thought about the pros and cons, the pros were just about the money," Marshall told Triple M. "If it was about the money I probably would've retired five years ago. "

Good luck Benji your not missed and its not about the $.
Culture is already looking better at WT without having a sook around the team.

When you think Wests Tigers, you think Benji Marshall and vice versa it’s as simple as that... and I don’t see that changing anytime soon

Yes he’s not the player he once was, but that doesn’t mean we should disrespect the greatest player in the clubs history whom had put this team on the map leading us to our first and only premiership, more so respect his decision to wanna play on and wish him all the best and cherish the memories he had once demonstrated at this team and give him the respect he deserves and allow him to do whatever he wishes as we owe him that at the very least wouldn’t you think, I don’t understand why everyone’s so bothered about him believing in himself that he can play another season, it has no barring on us whatsoever if he plays on somewhere else to try further his legacy that’s fine, for all he has done for this club we should support a club legends aspirations not put him down....

I’m not upset we didn’t re-sign benji, I personally think it was the correct decision in terms of this club moving forward however I do think he deserves to be respected and appreciated for the things he has done for this great club, and should be able to make whatever decision he thinks is right for himself and be supported by us fans

The club and the fans have both stood by Benji for more than long enough.
We don't owe him anything anymore. Loved the part he played in '05 and all the breathtaking highlights he produced in his career for us. Now that he is gone he is just another ex-WT player. Some leave with dignity and their reputation intact, some burn bridges and undo some of their onfield heroics. Benji has fallen into that 2nd category.
Good luck to him, don't wish him any ill-will but we don't all have to fall at his feet anymore IMO. He's done more than alright for himself and his family partly due to the loyalty and faith WT and it's supporters have placed on him.

There’s no timeline and expiry date to respecting and appreciating former club legends especially to the stature of Benji, to say he’s just another ex WT player is not how I personally view him but you’re obvs able to have your opinion, I see Benji Marshall as a significantly monumental part of this clubs history and legacy in the league and will always admire and appreciate what he did for the club to put us in the position we were in and to win our first and only premiership, just cause he’s not as good anymore and wishes to continue to play elsewhere due to us not offering an extension means he has burned his bridges? That’s just ridiculous to me, I don’t get it it’s quite disrespectful in my eyes

I’m just confused to why he has undone his heroics and burned bridges....... what he believes he can play another year in NRL, wasn’t given the opportunity to do that at the tigers but wishes to go elsewhere to further his own legacy?

I don’t get the perception of us falling at his feet? I don’t consider allowing him to go elsewhere to continue his career without losing the reputation he has within the club as falling to his feet

I'm curious what bridges people think he burnt on his way out? Unless you're soft and concieted you should have no issue with how he bowed out.
