Liddles ability and durability is unproven at this stage.Simpkins at 19 aint quite ready in all probablility
But why chase a "top 6"hooker at big $$ without **taking a peek under the hood and see what these two can do?**?
If were gonna spend that sort of $$ ,grab a proven full back or half back..and get someone better than 6th best!!
We need to aim higher
You could say that about any young player on our books
We cant continually wait and see how our younger players go
We need to act when someone becomes available
Look at Melbourne
Brandon Smith
Cameron Smith
Harry Grant
All hookers and all play for Melbourne
What's wrong with us getting a proven Hooker
If liddle or Simpkin fire then we are in a great position
Liddle can go to Hooker
McInnes can go to lock
We can loan out Simpkin just like Melbourne did with Grant
We will have bargaining power for once
It would be a great position to be in when we hold all the chips
Its not about halting the development of Simpkin as he can still be developed
Liddle can still be 1st choice Hooker
Its his job to keep it
It puts our club in a much stronger position
Thats exactly my point..Im unconvinced that McGuiness offers significant upside to what weve already got and have invested heaviliy in.If you said Harry Grant ,particularly at $700k,Id jump at that opportunity because hes a class above McGuiness and in all probability what we already have.
I guess I just dont rate Mcguiness any higher than the 6th best hooker in the comp as someone suggested, and Id like to think one of our incumbents will get at least to that point quickly.Weve got a season to find out
Its McInnes not Mcguiness
I wouldn't want Ken or Kevin Mcguiness either
We wait a season to find out and McInnes will no longer be available
We could very well end up with what we have now with no improvement
I hope I am wrong like some hope they are right
Every club should look at upgrading every position if capable
Roosters signed Flanagan and let him go 12 months later because he wasn't good enough
They let Mitchell go for Cronk but Mitchell was already a very good half
We, like every other club needs to put the best possible side on the field week in week out
Depth and competition for spots is one of the keys to success
Liddle and Simpkin should be pushed real hard to succeed and to win a starting spot
We as supporters should not be afraid of that
It is a ? of $ really
At a guess I would say McInnes has a very high % of games played against those he has missed
We need good players available and on the park as often as possible
Happy and safe Christmas CT :christmas_tree: :mother_christmas: .
