McInnes’ decision to join the Sharks is the latest blow to the Tigers’ often criticised recruitment and retention program.

The Tigers were desperate to fill the void left by the departure of Harry Grant at hooker when the right player became available and McInnes certainly fit the bill.

The club has missed out on signing stars like Latrell Mitchell and Josh Addo-Carr in recent years and let stars James Tedesco, Aaron Woods, Mitchell Moses and Ryan Papenhuyzen join other clubs.

The Tigers have been accused of being doormats for the rest of the competition with players both unwilling to join the club and unwilling to stay there.

The club currently has Jacob Liddle, who has had a history of long-term injuries and Billy Walters, who is returning form a knee injury as their hooker options.

Tigers and New Zealand coach Michael Maguire is keen to lure Brandon Smith from the Storm, but he is one of the most sought after signatures in the game, so it will be difficult for the club to land him.

With Moses Mbye stepping down from the captaincy McInnes would have solved the No.9 and leadership holes at the club, but now it is back to the drawing board.

The Tigers have now missed out on three hooker targets in Harry Grant, Blayke Brailey and McInnes, but they may have another crack at Brailey now that his future at Cronulla is uncertain.

The single best signing this year will be our signing of stephen crichton for 2022 ,, The reported offer by Penrith is totally wrong.
As at todays date West TIgers has the best offer for his services.
While this is taking a long time to finally happen i remain very confident he is going to WT...

Crichton, Luai and Yeo all staying at Penrith... Just sorting out money and how the deals are constructed (front ending some and back ending others).

Hartigan interested in Egan Butcher, Roosters may have issues keeping him as they are looking to re-sign Angus Chricton, Tupou, Billy Smith and Sam Walker.


Sivo and Staggs being shopped by their managers for huge money. Brandon Smith has a big offer from the Warriors.

Man, McInnis is 177cm tall and 91kg heavy.
It is expecting a Brooksie or Madden to play lock.
Big props up to McInnis for playing that role but he is not going to survive long term unless he puts on another 10kg.


Radley is basically same playing weight only 5cm taller and he's elite

Bit surprising really, think most people expected him to stay a while there. Apparently he's had some talks with Brisbane

There is no better way to evaluate someone and each others intentions than a face to face meeting,phone calls emails etc just dont give you that information

Been thinking that as well. Madge is very hands on but might make sense to let Hartigan do the public meetings, he’s a lot less recognisable.

Yes must be the name,Hartigan (Matt) is killing it at the Broncos now he has moved on from Marsden High, I think he will end up replacing Paul Nolan. A pity his relationship couldn't get Isako to the Tigers

The Courier Mail reports the Rabbitohs offered Mitchell a three-year deal but it was knocked back by the club's management.

"I can confirm we've had some discussions with the Broncos," a spokesman for Mitchell's management told the Courier Mail.

"We spoke just prior to Christmas.

"At this stage, despite reports Latrell is a done deal at Souths, we haven't finalised anything.

"Souths have tried to put a deal together that will reflect Latrell's market value, but we've made it clear we aren't looking for a long-term deal."

While South Sydney remain confident of keeping Mitchell, the star's representative has received interest from at least 12 teams in the NRL, with the "When they aren't on top of the NRL, they are a sleeping giant and it is only a matter of time before they bounce back again. The Broncos are arguably the biggest brand in Australian sport."

Mitchell's move to fullback was under the microscope during the early stages of the transition, but he was clearly adapting well during the 2020 season despite suffering a hamstring injury that cut his year short.

From 14 games with South Sydney at fullback - Mitchell had 15 try-assists and 26 line breaks and looked more confident in executing his duties at the back.

I reckon Mbye , will be there as well . He’ll be here next year, that’s my prediction
