Madge couldn’t confirm or deny Laurie will start at fullback in round 1 but did hint Mbye could play in the 14 role.

If Mbye hinders Simpkins development from the get go, I’ll bury my head in the sand before the season even starts.

Well I don’t see Mbye and Simpkin both being on our bench, so I would suspect Simpkin stays in reserve grade for now.

I was already of the opinion Simpkins was going to have to earn his spot through reserve grade. Maguire has given him praise but also said he will get his chance at some point. Some point being the key.

Let's not forget that Simpkin has barely even played reserve grade... no need for him to be playing first grade from round 1 onwards.

Joffa Is a lock. He'll be starting there I reckon, few of the players have mentioned that he's got an impressive motor.

I think Mbye will start R1 at FB and it will be his to lose.

This. Luchs ball playing skills too good to be confined to an edge. Played in the halves at school.

Might not be an 80 minute lock but could get there

Has the hands for it, but IMO sticking him in the middle nullifies his assets of mobility and footwork

Interesting, don’t see it myself it but then I’m a nuffie.

Joffa was unreal.innunder 20's back in the day. 80 minute player running 200-300 metres every week. He has the motor but last few years hasnt had the mental application. Hel be our lock. It will help with the prop rotation that way as well.

Why would you do that when you just went out into the market and signed a lock. Do you watch other teams or just our games?

He won't be there round 1 he suspended so most likely Mbye kicking goals round 1. Maybe even madden although he might not play
