I think a lot of the Cam Smith hate is jealousy.

Firstly, there were a lot of players at the storm team, and I don't hear the same level of hate to all of those players. In fact there were players at Parramatta, bulldogs & cronulla who also breached the cap and i don't hear the same level of hate to them.

If you are so righteous about salary cap breaches, you should be against all these players equally and even more so the player agents and club administrators.

Secondly, there are players convicted of serious crimes, including DV, rape, violence and drugs. Including players in our own club. If your concerned about salary cap are a moral issue, I trust you are also concerned about all of these also.

Thirdly, there are players like Hayne, Barbara, Inglis, and others who have ticked both boxes. But I don't hear as much hate for them as Smith.

It's OK if you don't like Smith, but if you are using am morale argument at least be consistent.

Have you ever met the bloke? People who actually worked with him can't talk enough about how great he is. Genuinely seems like he loves the game and loves helping grow his club.

I assume you have the same disdain for every other Melbourne player who cheated the cap? Fun fact Madge was assistant coach for all those stripped premierships...

Think Cams definitely headed for the Broncos given theyve purged Boyd,McCullough & a few others when they needed exactly that sort of experience more than anything else in 2021..
Figure Broncos expected another club to jump at the opportunity to grab either Milford or Lodge at a discount so Broncos can squeeze Cam's $1mill under the cap,but no-ones biting as these 2 wld expect 2-3 yrs and quite frankly they are 2 of the most over-rated players in the NRL
Somethings gotta give at the Broncos...and very soon..so expect a couple of Isyaake type players(but not Staggs) made available to the marketplace from a desperate Broncos to get their man

Yea , but to his defence it’s not like we signed someone with domestic violence charges once against them , or a guy who went to jail for curb stomping someone ..... oh wait .


Lets be real, because it matters. Musgrove was never convicted for DV and the time that those charges were levelled at him, the charges were dropped prior to trial. He smashed a gate in a rage. MASSIVE difference to DV and he doesnt deserve to be smeared with that.

Not talking about Musgrove . There’s BJ in the team as well. It’s funny how you justify this with minimal knowledge . Pretty much about as much knowledge as the Smith stuff . I personally couldn’t give 2 flying stuffs as it was 12 years ago , but my point about how we all have different true north’s to our moral compass is valid . You literally just proved it .

Anyways I really don’t want to participate in the Smith garbage , I regret saying that comment . I was more commenting on all of our obvious hypocrisies .

The only relevence in case some are a little slow to understand my pointis that Cams fate may have a consequence for us..otherwise cldnt care less where he goes or doesnt go!

Im going to take a punt and say Hastings will be with us this season..there is a new variant of the virus over there and things may change quite a bit even though they have rolled out vaccinations...just a hunch,but dont really know,it would be much easier to stay,train and play here now that he is back in Oz and has been through quarantine and is with family...I know nothing about his contract so Iam just giving an opinion...

Not much of a fan of Smith as a person but I’d argue Packer and Musgrove aren’t any better..

Packer is much worse.

I just got told from someone close to Jackson Hastings that he’s signed with the club. Wouldn’t go into full detail understandably, but I stick by the two-year deal from 2021 I was told the other day

We need to be giving people like Madden, Talau, Mikaele, Uitokomanu, Fitzgibbon, Laurie, Simpkin, as much opportunity as we can to prove themselves as first graders because if we're gonna add superstars to our roster we're probably gonna be developing them.

Sorry, that for mine is what reserve grade is for.
The only one I’d promote out of that group is Mikaele. Even Talua/Kepoa could do with some consistent time in the backline. But I wouldn’t be a opposed to him or Kepoa being our starting winger.

I'm going to take a punt and say Hastings will be either starting half or 5/8 by mid season. Then again, what would I know, just a guess. If he's matured and learnt some life lessons, hed be more valuable to the team than most think if we signed him.
