Well Hastings is due back at Wigan for training on the 22nd so we'll know what's happening soon.

Im going to take a punt and say Hastings will be with us this season..there is a new variant of the virus over there and things may change quite a bit even though they have rolled out vaccinations...just a hunch,but dont really know,it would be much easier to stay,train and play here now that he is back in Oz and has been through quarantine and is with family...I know nothing about his contract so Iam just giving an opinion...

I'm going to take a punt and say Hastings will be either starting half or 5/8 by mid season. Then again, what would I know, just a guess. If he's matured and learnt some life lessons, be more valuable to the team than most think if we signed him.

Aren’t you concerned that Douehi’s suspension for round one has led to the following scenario which means at least 2 of 3 of our rookies will debut in round 1.
1, Laurie 6, Madden 14, MBye
1, MBye 6, Laurie 14, Simpkin
1, MBye 6, Madden 14, Simpkin

MBye will be in our round one side at Either 1,6 or 14 but how the rest lines up is due to desperation.
My opinion is we need experienced cover for 5/8.

I think they will have Liddle or Simpkin at 14 for a while then see if one can play the whole 80 and stick with him. Because I hate wasting a bench spot on a utility or hooker.

I don't see them not picking Mbye which is a shame. I believe he is not in our top 17. Mbye has got to be this worst buy Ivan made. Big money, no talent and long term. 🙁

Not much of a fan of Smith as a person but I’d argue Packer and Musgrove aren’t any better..

Packer is much worse.

I think it will be round 1:
1 Mbye
6 Madden
14 Simpkin

Round 2
1 Mbye
6 AD (unless Madden plays the house down)
14 Simpkin

Laurie will get his chance but no need to rush him in for round 1/2 IMO.

We have a very good forward pack. In the halves we have Brooks,Doeihie,Madden,and Walters, at 9 we have Liddle and Simkin, at FB we have Laurie and Mbye. The combinations will take time to settle , but we have good backup in all these key positions.Who ends up playing and where, will obviously depend on performance. This is by far the best side we have had for a long time. Top 8 is well within our reach.

Yea , but to his defence it’s not like we signed someone with domestic violence charges once against them , or a guy who went to jail for curb stomping someone ..... oh wait .


Lets be real, because it matters. Musgrove was never convicted for DV and the time that those charges were levelled at him, the charges were dropped prior to trial. He smashed a gate in a rage. MASSIVE difference to DV and he doesnt deserve to be smeared with that.

Not talking about Musgrove . There’s BJ in the team as well. It’s funny how you justify this with minimal knowledge . Pretty much about as much knowledge as the Smith stuff . Well that’s your opinion but I have a different view. Youth needs to prove itself to demand a spot in the 17. If you loose young players from not playing first grade your still doing something wrong as a club. How many games did Harley ray shields or Matt Timoko get for the raiders last year? What about Sta afoa or Tex Hoy for the knights? I guess they should be worried too that they’ll be signing with other clubs.

Yes and Madden has a place in regies until he proves himself in NRL,he needs to gain much needed experience since he had no football basically last year...

Mate, Im serious, I think you have me mixed up with someone else. I literally have posted **ZERO** posts about Cam Smith, I couldnt care less about him.

My point was only that you have made the point that Musgrove and BJ are "way worse" because they were "charged" with DV. I think this is very unfair and dangerous. Neither of these people were ever even tried on these charges and are completely innocent of these charges. it would be a terrible thing in your life to be smeared with such a horrific crime and have that attached to them when they have never been tried for it I think is very wrong.

The good thing about Hap is he is stringent when he makes a point and sticks to his guns,he takes as good as he gets..
Hap says that Cam Smith is one of the greatest players in modern times...many agree and others bag the guy...I think Hap and many are quite entitled to have an opinion in whatever way,thats what makes a forum a forum...
Personally,bringing up current players misdemenours from the past doesnt cut it with me,especially if those things said havent been proven in a court of law..
Would I be happy if Smith signed with us ? yes depending on how much and for how long,as long as we dont lose young guys because of it...
