That coach of Australia in 1998 when Ikin played, didn’t coach Australia in 1999
What a coincidence, neither did Ikin
Ikin was OK but I didn’t think he was that good

I don't care if his mother was the coach.
Average players don't play 17 Origins and 2 tests.
To say otherwise is ridiculous.

Down playing someone's career because he doesn't rate our chances is so petty .

Are you calling Ikin petty

That's honesty about his debut. I'm calling you petty

I was living and playing in the QRL when Ikin got selected for the Donkeys, QLD and Aust .. trust me he only got there because who he was dating / then married .. he was an ordinary footballer at best .. !!

I don't care that he doesn't rate the tigers
That's not my argument
He can say what he likes
That's his opinion and I have no problems with that

I also have an opinion of his playing career
Now go and compare Ikins club career stats with Milford
Milford numbers are better in try's, try assists, field goals and goals both in totals and averages
Yet Milford is below average in most people's eyes
He has played 2 origins
Why ? , because there are better players than him
Fortunately for Ikin he didn't have much competition in his position at that time
His career stats are not good at all
He was just in a good team that won games
That's my opinion and I will stick with that

Well your dead wrong that his career only happened because of Bennett. But then again you had Momo scoring GF tries for the chooks too IIRC.

Yes I was mistaken about momos try
It was in a semi final not a grand final

But you don't have to go through 100s of my posts to find an error I made to try and discredit what I say about a player
It's my opinion
I will stick with that
And you called me petty?

It's OK to have different opinions
That's the good thing about this forum
I will leave it at that

Warriors missed out on Hughes despite offering $2.5m. Another player to choose loyalty over dollars?

I guess having a genuine chance to win a few more trophies in the next few years is a greater lure than the $$.

Also your career could be in tatters after a bad stint as the main man on big money. It's safer to take less money at a place you know can at least keep your career on its current trajectory.

Exactly why the chooks keep players.

Bellamy going. Melbourne may start to decline.

Perhaps we can offer them Mbye, but wait there is more! They can get ‘the best decoy runner ever’ Packer for nothing!
An offer they cannot refuse!😁

I reckon Hughes is a reasonably average player in a great team, with a great set up and incredible systems around him. Seems he is also smart enough to understand this.

Good ? Happy
Look it up
Did the coach have a say too ?
Point is , it's my opinion and we all have one
I didn't see anything special on the field from Ikin
I don't recall many accolades for him
Or MOM performances
And his stats were below average
Can you remember and stand out performances from him as I can't

If he was available today would you sign him up
Does he fit your requirements as a better than average player

We have got off the subject a little here on this thread so I won't go on here anymore
Move it to another thread and I will continue to give my opinion

As far as 5/8s go
In today's market my pick would be Luai
He will be a very good player for years to come
He looks very hungry and that's what I like in a player
Fast thinker and elusive on his feet
A player that can do it himself or create it for others

Reece Walsh would be a handy pick up for them, but they also think they have some handy juniors who could fill the void. I think they will go for Joey Manu at the end of this year throw fullback money at him and see if Chooks will release him for '22 season. That's my guess, not too many other NZ born fullbacks off contract atm

They will go well with the players they have. Where they will struggle a little is in the tight dogfight games. Smith not there for composure. Harry and Munster I think will be a bit frantic in those moments I believe.
They could also open a game up with this but I think it will hurt them in the finals

I think with this team we have recruited that we will be playing finals footy. I couldn’t care less who makes up the other 7 finalists.
