I know this name has popped up in the past, but can we go all out for Schuster?

Surely not happy to witness Manly sign someone at the end of their career and start them.

If we get rid of Mbye by the end of the season, throw that money at him. He's such a gun.

Mbye is contracted with WT for 2022 season, so that throws your idea out the window.

How long have you been following the game to think that matters?

And rumours of moving him on have been going on for a while, taking captaincy and not including him in the leadership group is also further hints.

I have nothing against Mbye, and hope he goes well for us. Just saying his money would help land Schuster.

I wasn’t disagreeing with you I just stated a fact, that Mbye is contracted to WT next season.
I wish that we could have got rid of him this season, but I doubt that there would be many takers interested in him.
I’ve been following football for a very long time and I take the hit that contracts aren’t worth the paper they are written on, but you have to have a club willing to take him.

Sorry my response was perhaps too aggressive!

Yah you're right, hope he has a good season and shows he deserves a contract somewhere. I'm sure some team could make use of him, at a much lower price - but even then happy to move him on.

Who's making way for Schuster...?

Guess we'll have to figure out what we do with AD/BJ/JTJ depending on how those guys go this year. Got time to figure it out.

Wow didn't Fitzgibbon's light fade in a heartbeat..

Yeah, funny that. Turns out you need more than speed to make it in the NRL.

That said I still think he's got potential, but the comparisons between him and JAC are ridiculous.

In all seriousness apart from speed I'm not sure what JAC possesses. He's a defensive spud like most wingers....or fullbacks these days.

Reads the game and works hard to get himself in the right positions. You definitely have a headstart with his speed, but if it was all about speed then clubs would just be out signing sprinters.

I still remember that guy we signed from Union, John Grant I think his name was? Really tall and super fast but never got close to first grade.

What about Darren Clark in the Alan Jones days

The trouble is Clark was predominantly a 400m runner and a footy field ain't that long!

Darren was quick over a hundred as well, but lucky to make the run on side of his local North Ryde Juniors with the other aspects of the game.

Edit; Cini couldn't possibly be worse.

Cini, Madden & Talau were in that Aus Schoolboys team and Cini was the pick of the 3.

Cini was a promising player and a try scoring freak for the panthers in the lower grades but in that schoolboys side was a fringe player. Behind the likes of Bradman Best, Stephen Crichton, Tesi Niu, Bronson Xerri, Star To'a etc.

Of our boys Talau and Madden were the most influential players in that squad.

He's in the same predicament as Talau. A skilled player but not a specialist in any position.

He's played the vast majority of his career in the second row. I think that's his position, a Wade Graham type. But does he have the body for that in the NRL yet though?

With 700k left in this years cap we could sign 2 players on base wage (50k each for the remaining 6 months of the contract period). Then we could front load Moses Mbye paying him 600k of next years wage and we only have to pay him $250k next year.

That way we are either getting value out of him for 250k or we can hand him off to another club because they only need to cover 250k to pick him up meaning we have his whole 850k free next season

Karl Lawton has been released from Warriors to pick up a two year deal somewhere else, wonder where he's off too? Talented player but has had injury problems.

I was going to ask if you could come and sort out my budget for me, but then I realized that I haven't got 700K in my budget to start with.

The only way I'd ever make a small fortune is if I started off with a large fortune.

Xerri is a roid cheat anyway

Judging on tonight's form we definitely dodged a bullet passing on Josh Mansour

He wanted a three-year deal, right? *Shudder*

How slow did JAC make him look and even more concerning he gave up pretty quickly on that chase.

Brandon Smith is still looking for an out from the Melbourne Storm.

Hopefully we will have a bit of an answer to that today?

However, you can't have enough good players in your team, IMO.

To be fair, JAC makes most people look slow?

Wonder if JAC could stop him near the line?

I agree, but not to that extent. Mansour looked like he’s bulked up and lost some speed.

He's an upgrade to our team that's for sure. Hard one for the club though, Smith is top quality but you don't want to sign him early and Liddle starts killing it. If it was me I'd definitely be letting him know that Tigers are interested though

Schuster can play lock
or AD moves to centres and Joey L not renewed and schustercan play 6

He looked slow last year. His turn and chase speed isn’t anywhere what it use to be & it’s declined badly.

Very very glad he isn’t with us this year.

RE- Mansour, he is still a competent winger, but unless you get
players super cheap, signing players over 28 on long term deals is dumb. There will always be the odd exeption , but many become stale and injury prone after so much football.
Looking at the games so far, Forun, Klemmer,,and quite a few others are starting to show signs of a tough career. Even Jake T at manly slowed down last year and i doubt he will be one of the first picked for NSW now.

I still think he's easily picked, unless he has a shocker for the next 10 rounds. Think about Jake Turbo is he excels in a good side, but he's not going to make the side good by himself, because he's more of a support player - strong defence, smart runs and passes. He becomes one of those "made for Origin" types, where he's a much better prospect in rep football than week-to-week in clubland.
