I’d target the following underrated players.

Hymel Hunt
Phoenix Crossland
Harley Smith Shields
Siosifa Talaki
Isaac Lumelume
Paul Turner
Keenan Palasia
Brandon Trindall

The only bigger name players available which make sense but won’t happen are.
Xavier Coates, Jayden Sua, Lachlan Fitzgibbon.

Souths may look at offloading a player in order to keep Reynolds
So don't rule out Jayden Sua
Souths wouldn't have to pay a cent to release him
Souths hierarchy may buckle under pressure from its own supporters
They would rather keep Reynolds then Sua if push came to shove

I'm not sure if Souths have to release a player but a supporter has used the name of a very highly regarded club official stating that Reynolds will stay. I have no doubt he will if that name is involved.

I have no doubt he will, souths are as dodgy as easts, Reynolds will now sign for a reduced fee to get the extra year/s, and the NRL will sign off on it

The club official is highly respected and from all accounts a really good human being. I am unsure about what Rusty has planned but from what I have read he is a Reynolds' fan.

I am a huge brooks fan boy but I’m affraid if he doesn’t improve he’s time here is done...I’d be giving Milford a low one year deal....with doueihi our main long kicker I feel Milford could really strive ball playing around the middle and his attacking kicks close the line would be a real asset..he’s still not old and done like Reynolds but would be a risk still as he’s been woeful the last couple of years...a risk yes but we really aren’t going anywhere with brooks

Milfords career is just about over

We've had Milford, Hastings and Townshend all suggested as possible replacements. They"re all over the place. Can one of you suggest a viable option?

There don't seem to be many. We all know you have to pay a ton to get a quality NRL half. Townsend is near the end of his career I reckon but could work on the cheaper end 400-500k. I've had a look through the clubs and Jayden Sullivan at Dragons looks a touted young prospect who we might be able to sign too.

Braydon Trindall is raw but definitely worth a look, same goes for Tom Dearden. don't believe Hastings is the answer. Shaun Johnson could also work. if Reynolds is resigned by Souths by more than a year I'd be looking at Blake Taaffe or Lachlan Illias, both are huge prospects.

I would add Schuster from Manly to this list.

So much negativity about a team that beat a top 8 team and then got refereed out of a win against the 2nd best team in the comp. at the moment.
This is a competitive top 8 team that's improving every week. It's a shame our supporters specialize in dumping on their own team and can't recognise the great opportunities that await.
The only change that needs to be made is Garner. He's just not contributing at the level needed.

Agree.

Swap Mikaele out for a few weeks and replace him with Seyfarth also.

I'd love Schuster but he's not a halfback. if Brooks doesn't work out and we decide to go to market then we need somebody who will lead the team around and take charge. Schuster is better off getting good ball out the back in space and given the opportunity to create without having to worry about organising. jury is still out on Madden. I'm really not sure about how he'll go when given the chance in the top grade.

Look to be fair he is young and lacking football but imo on what i have seen (which is limited) i think the jury is in and he will not be our answer going forward.
The biggest problem we have is any half, 5/8 or hooker will have trouble showing their best footy in our team until we can start getting quick play the balls allowing them to play on the front foot.

Cowboys coach, Todd Payten and his team will be flying into Sydney sometime during the week, hopefully during this time talks between clubs are being done to transfer Moses for someone at their club.

Who would you take?

Like I’ve said before, Jordan McLean for me.

Jordan McLean is a massively overpaid plodder IMO. He's about as much value as Rusty Packer.
Maybe Feldt but he doesn't have too many years left in him.
Cows are going absolutely horrendous at the moment, they don't have much of a carcass to pick at.

Now that the Dragons have gone with Hunt and Norman I wonder if Adam Clune would want to leave them a year early?
Good quality young player and a real half.

Seen that Greig, their big backrower got an immediate switch to Parra. He would have been worth a look. Outside of Hammer, there's just a bunch of overpaid, underperforming players. If Mbye is going to Cowboys another domino will have to fall somewhere else for anyone to afford him.

Pooper warning, Reynolds likely to leave, Reynolds not busted, Benji might have to stay on

‘Pistols at dawn’: Reynolds increasingly likely to go as Souths dig in on offer

The Adam Reynolds contract standoff at South Sydney has officially become “pistols at dawn” after the Rabbitohs held a recruitment and retention meeting on Tuesday to re-affirm the club’s position.
The Bunnies remain adamant they will only offer Reynolds a 12-month deal for next season and then assess the Rabbitohs captain’s situation on a year-by-year basis.

The Rabbitohs premiership-winning skipper, local junior and Redfern favourite has stipulated all along he is looking for a minimum two-year deal.

So as much as the negotiation wasn’t hostile to begin with - it’s getting to that stage.

If the Bunnies refuse to budge - as they continue to - then it’s getting more and more likely by the day the champion red and green no.7 won’t be at South Sydney next season.

Contrary to reports, Reynolds’ body is not broken and he’s not about to be forced into an early retirement.

The South Sydney recruitment and retention committee consists of CEO Blake Solly, head of football Mark Ellison, head coach for 2022 Jason Demetriou, chief financial officer Peter Legg and chief operating officer Brock Schaefer.

The Bunnies have outlined the club’s 2023 salary cap position in black and white over the course of the last 24 hours and remain adamant they will not be able to offer Reynolds more than a 12-month deal.

They’ve also got NSW Origin five-eighth and one of the NRL’s form playmakers Cody Walker coming off contract at the end of next year.

The Bunnies clearly want to retain Walker.

Queensland State of Origin players Dane Gagai and Jadyn Su’A are also off contract at the end of this year.

If Reynolds does decide to leave, the Bunnies may opt to retain Benji Marshall for an additional 12 months as they develop young gun playmakers Blake Taaffe and Lachlan Ilias.
