I am a huge brooks fan boy but I’m affraid if he doesn’t improve he’s time here is done...I’d be giving Milford a low one year deal....with doueihi our main long kicker I feel Milford could really strive ball playing around the middle and his attacking kicks close the line would be a real asset..he’s still not old and done like Reynolds but would be a risk still as he’s been woeful the last couple of years...a risk yes but we really aren’t going anywhere with brooks

Milford is no where near as good as Brooks imo - that would be a BIG backward step.

Milfords career is just about over

He's on life support.

This forum cares way too much about players personalities... as long as they work hard at training and work hard on the field let's take them. We can't afford to run background checks on players and only sign charity workers.... McGuire is a grub but he would be a solid pickup and footy is what matters

I'm very proud of the fact our club hasn't ever been seen as purveyers of grubby play.
To the point that even the "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Finger" or Tim Simona stuff never left a stigma upon our great clubs name in the same way Storm cheated the cap or Easts Rorters continually seem so flushed for choice or Sharks being found over the cap every year either side of their premiership.
Our integrity is intact.
We are proud.
We signed bone-heads before, the most recent having been dropped last week.
Was it last year McGuire got done for eye-gouging?
Let us not even entertain the thought of having someone of so little repute at our club.
If we limp... we limp like men!

Other big teams (especially forwards) dont respect us
we play nice
we don't play finals

Im sick of limping out of finals contention

I think most teams do respect us, we are quite known for producing the unexpected

Havn't been in contention for a while sure but we make most teams sweat regardless

**RCG stated in an interview after the game that if they play like that against a good team they will get beat by 40.... they dont respect us.**

We don't make them sweat

That quote should be pinned up in the locker room and all our players read it. It should fire them all up massively.

Likely none are even bothered by it though and we have a week from Tiger's own media about our 'improved effort'.

More telling than any fluff article .....

We need a winger, a centre and a halfback urgently.

Oates for wing
Naden for centre
Hastings for halfback

Well that should insure that we get the spoon, well done.

Bit rich from the bloke who wants to sign Lachlan Lewis ?

Incorrect. No one respects us at all. We're generally considered a laughing stock to most clubs and players.

You know this for sure, right? You know what most clubs and players generally think about Tigers, you've taken a survey?

If South's are not budging on a one year deal for Reynolds there is a problem - not sure why people can't see that. He doesn't want to leave, and if he is forced to he will try to get every dollar possible out of us to do so. If I was in charge of managing the cap in the best interest of the club I wouldn't be offering any thing more than South's.

Doesn't hurt to have a chat to him, who knows how much he wants? Quality halfbacks are at a premium, worth every cent.

They're scarred because of their deals with Burgess and Inglis and also have major salary cap issues. They have a lot of money already tied up for 2022 and especially 2023 and plenty of spots to fill hence not wanting to give Reynolds a longer deal.

They like to feed the narrative that they are scarred from the Burgess and Inglis contracts. Those 2 contracts didn't adversely affect their club at all, didn't both of the flogs get medically retired? Or 1 of them did and the other one gets his ridiculous couple hundred thousand $$$ every year delayed payment for supposedly doing some laughable 'work' around their club for an hour or two every now and again?
Massive rort. Wish our club could manage to sort out contract problems in that fashion.....it basically makes every contract upgrade a no-risk one.

Adam Reynolds is not the messiah, his sort kicking game and goal kicking are excellent but he does not do anything else. He does not lead the team around, he tries to avoid physical contact and rarely engages the line or makes tackles. He was dropped from SOO years ago for a 19 year old has been under pressure to keep his spot at Souths many times.

The same people that bag Brooks no matter what he does would not be any happy with Adam Reynolds (or the messiah).

Exactly when has he been under pressure to keep his halfback spot at South’s? 🙄
PS it was Pearce who replaced him in Origin.
Try another one.

Look I don’t think getting him will solve our issues but he does far more than that at Souths & is alot better than you make out. He is a top 5 nrl halfback & if we need a half he is the best on the market available.

have you? It's not an emotional thing here.

Everyone rests players against us, we play teams back into form, we had prayer circles, our forward struggle to make 100m a game, we cant score points and now have a record for more than 26 points scored against us in consecutive weeks.

Seriously its been a mess over the years, slowly getting better though. Potentially we may be underestimated soon, but not yet.

No I haven't done a survey, but I am not making claims to know what players think. It's just a stupid and pointless claim that "most clubs and players" think or do anything.

You claim resting players, playing teams back into form... there's no data for that, just sweeping generalisations.

The one legitimate thing you've said is the bad defensive record >26 points in consecutive weeks. No debating that, and I believe that is the primary difference between where we are now and finals football. All the rest of it - the wingers, Brooks' performance, Doueihi as a long-term 5/8th option, our hookers... I think they are all very secondary to a complete inability to defend under pressure.

But, again, not making any stupid and pointless claims about what other teams "think".

Lol it's what they say and do - on record. On radio. On the net. In the papers. Before and after games. It's their words and actions, not mine. It's the coaches, players, recruits. Latrell said he didn't want to be the big player at a club or something like that. Coaches regularly down play our efforts. Look at Moses rolling over the sideline. No respect. That hurts.

Im not hiding behind a false accusation that a survey is necessary, I just read. A lot.

But whatever put those rose coloured glasses on and believe we are a powerhouse, feared and respected by all for missing the finals, sacking club legends, front office disasters, salary cap management etc.... 9th place is a good result right?

It's the coaches fault, the halfbacks fault, we don't have wingers, our 5/8 is bad, no one would buy our hooker, we cant defend, cant make a last tackle play, cant buy a repeat set. Crumble under pressure etc.

But wait, why would you respect a team like that? Even some on the forum don't seem to at times.

Problem is most people are losing patience at history repeating. Again and again and again.

As I said, it's changing, just slowly. But, it is changing. More deadwood gone at the end of this year - another step forward. One step towards respect. Finals this year would be another. Might even jag a win.

If we get it right a lack or respect turns to underestimation. hopefully in September.

I'll just take my sweeping generalisations and brush them under the rug. Seems too be better if we just think its all ok.

Personally, Im sick of it. Hopefully the players are as well. Because according to Kent if you cant make it as the Tigers, who would buy you?

So some of the people on this group are willing to offer a 2 year contract to a player who has a chronic back injury? No garuntee he will last 2 years. Shit defender btw and After the 2 years then what? We gotta find a new halfback and new combinations? It’s just creating more problems for our club. Decisions like this are the reason we are still rebuilding. If you wanna buy a new halfback, it should be a gun halfback who we can build around for years to come. not a player that’s at the end of there career or another rookie. Much prefer brooks over reynolds. I mean Souths won’t offer there halfback from the last decade longer than one year for god sake.

What gun, in their prime halfbacks are available? They rarely leave the clubs they're at. Brooks is in no way shape or form a better halfback than Reynolds.

Also pretty sure the whole 'chronic back injury' thing got debunked as Souths making stuff up.

The koalas are safe at souffs. There will be very little criticism if any from the media because both the walking dead and rusty are there and neither like any form of adverse judgment.
An abortion of a club from top to bottom

We are getting better, forwards are good and getting better. We are just short of 2 quality fast backs and an imposing forward. We should be carefull not to buy other clubs problems, and not to buy backs that do not have speed.

Speed and more speed is what we need, if a player does not have it let him go !

He doesn’t have a chronic injury.
He is at all practice & training sessions and missed only 4 games over the last few seasons.
Don’t believe the rubbish media reports trying to justify why he hasn’t been given a deal.

The 1yr deal is because of salary cap.

Don’t think Souths have appalling cap mgmt given their roster. If anything it shows they are playing more by the rules than others. They haven’t said they don’t want him, they just need to play year by year to keep him. Souths did this with Sutton as well.
