Naden held talks with Barrett yesterday, doggies are keen apparently according to Brent Read

Nice Tigers should learn from signing Jet.We take too many risks with recruitment.

I'd throw money at Staggs but seems unlikely we get him. Honestly I would take Will Hopoate for cheap as well, we need a solid centre who defends well and does his job.

We've lots of young talent coming through like Ogden. Hopoate would block their progression.

We need two good centres for next year. Sure the kids have talent but you can't have a team of rookies, we definitely need to keep investing in our juniors but you need to sign players from elsewhere too. Ogden isn't even on a development deal at the moment

Only problem with Hopoate is he's sooo slow, and our backline is full of slugs as it is.

Yeah he's definitely slow, he's a good defender and has good hands though. Definitely not perfect though. I'm a big fan of Seb Kris and Adam Pompey

Really good defender and safe as houses. Just really slow. I'm concerned by the lack of quality players off contract and our roster heading into 2022.

Think outside backs are the big concern. A quality second rower would be real nice too but hopefully Blore kills it and solves that problem. Nowadays you have to sign players well in advance otherwise you risk them going elsewhere.

Will be flamed for it but i'd bring back Woodsy on the cheap to be honest. I know he's widely maligned on here but he's still a quality forward imo. Also concerned about lock but perhaps Hastings solves that problem. Outside backs are our biggest concern. We need a good winger and at least one centre.

Not a bad shout...gain some money on the Packer contract and divert it to the outside backs.

I'm watching the Naden talk closely...the guy can score tries. Straight in for Leilua.

Does Roberts offer better value on the wing? I just feel with his pace, he could turn half chances into tries...not sure how he goes under the high ball though. There seems to be a lack of wingers, but a heap of centres off contract...Might be easier to jag a centre than a winger in the current market - plus we have Talau and some others capable in reserves?

If Jackson Hastings name was Jonny Neville Nobody Pastings and signed for the same low value, short term contract, would we even be talking about it?

He's 25 and more ready than an 18 year old rookie to offer squad depth at least as a minimum...even if he never plays a game, we'd be spending the same dollars on someone who also would also never play a game if we tried to jag a young half...non-event so far.

There is only upside...if he flops, he'll sit in reserves. If he's a gun, then it's good business because he plays above his contract value.

I'm more interested in who we replace Packer and BJ with...

Halves go at a premium. Even young halves like Tom Dearden, Jake Clifford and Brodie Croft require $300K minimum to get them to your club. Broncos reportedly paid $400K for Croft, who has been a flop for them. The reported $400-500K for Hastings is good business.

Figures for Hastings seem made up. Seen a video w Chammas and Sowie on the NRL website where Chammas quotes 500k. Soward asks if that's what he's on and Chammas admits he assumes that's the amount based on the market. Figures in the paper seem totally made up half the time.

If Hastings plays lock, Twal would be an interchange prop I imagine - which means no room for a Woodsy.

Why would Hastings be a new low?

I informed a friend of mine. He and his family have links to Illawarra footy. His first comment is why do some coaches believe they are the exception when others have failed (in relation to recruiting players who have a history)? This is the same gentleman who pointed out a young 16 year old Ryan Girdler as a future star. I listen when someone of that background makes comment.

No offence intended mate but I dont think we should entirely write off this potential signing based on your mate who has connections to Illawarra footy.

What did Hastings actually do? No one has ever said. He also seems to have matured a lot after being exiled.

He was only 22 at the time and some young men do not mature as quickly as others. If ruffling the feathers of a few ego's is the worst he has done I think he is probably entitled some leeway. His price tag would be thing I am most concerned about. He is still relatively in proven here.

Roberts is 100% not a winger. His fitness level is abysmal, his defence and hes lazy.

Centre is his only position. Though i would prefer he gets dropped. Offers nothing kn defence and is doing nothing in attack.
