I'd throw money at Staggs but seems unlikely we get him. Honestly I would take Will Hopoate for cheap as well, we need a solid centre who defends well and does his job.

We've lots of young talent coming through like Ogden. Hopoate would block their progression.

We need two good centres for next year. Sure the kids have talent but you can't have a team of rookies, we definitely need to keep investing in our juniors but you need to sign players from elsewhere too. Ogden isn't even on a development deal at the moment

Only problem with Hopoate is he's sooo slow, and our backline is full of slugs as it is.

Yeah he's definitely slow, he's a good defender and has good hands though. Definitely not perfect though. I'm a big fan of Seb Kris and Adam Pompey

Really good defender and safe as houses. Just really slow. I'm concerned by the lack of quality players off contract and our roster heading into 2022.

Think outside backs are the big concern. A quality second rower would be real nice too but hopefully Blore kills it and solves that problem. Nowadays you have to sign players well in advance otherwise you risk them going elsewhere.

Will be flamed for it but i'd bring back Woodsy on the cheap to be honest. I know he's widely maligned on here but he's still a quality forward imo. Also concerned about lock but perhaps Hastings solves that problem. Outside backs are our biggest concern. We need a good winger and at least one centre.

Not a bad shout...gain some money on the Packer contract and divert it to the outside backs.

I'm watching the Naden talk closely...the guy can score tries. Straight in for Leilua.

Does Roberts offer better value on the wing? I just feel with his pace, he could turn half chances into tries...not sure how he goes under the high ball though. There seems to be a lack of wingers, but a heap of centres off contract...Might be easier to jag a centre than a winger in the current market - plus we have Talau and some others capable in reserves?

Will Hopoate is possibly the worst performing centre in the NRL. He butchered two tries on the weekend and stands like a statue not tackling. I watch Dogs games unfortunately with mates he’s terrible.

I don't think he's that bad. Certainly not the player he was but he'd do a job in a stronger team - which ultimately isn't us. His attack has definitely gone downhill

My biggest concern with chasing Naden is that he is another risky buy like BJ and Roberts. Naden may come good, but more often than not at our club, the player underperforms and we end up regretting it.

I get the cupboard is pretty bare, and we are desperate to get a quality centre/winger now as our youth develops, but wonder if another up and down sometimes great sometimes ordinary centre is the way to go.

But if you don't trust in the direction that the clubs leader is taking you, then you can never win, as even if you're right and it was a mistake, you lose. So I'm backing our recruitment in making the right decision, (even though our history is frankly terrible), and hoping if he comes he smashes it and becomes a regular NSW centre.

Why would Hastings be a new low?

I informed a friend of mine. He and his family have links to Illawarra footy. His first comment is why do some coaches believe they are the exception when others have failed (in relation to recruiting players who have a history)? This is the same gentleman who pointed out a young 16 year old Ryan Girdler as a future star. I listen when someone of that background makes comment.

No offence intended mate but I dont think we should entirely write off this potential signing based on your mate who has connections to Illawarra footy.

What did Hastings actually do? No one has ever said. He also seems to have matured a lot after being exiled.

Blow up witb DCE and most of the other players in the team was the last thing I remember. He didn't seem to get along with many people wherever he went.

Whats the point of a new coach? You are then starting again - new philosophies, styles etc. WT need stability and it is going to take time. This is the first year you could say Maguire has his own roster (barring Mbye and Packer). Every one of us tigers fans wants to win.....its been a tough 10 years.....but it is moving in the right direction.

Because we're afraid of change? If it is not working we need to confront the problem. Changing the coach while keeping in place all our Football Dept and coaching/support staff results in one appointment change.

I hate "its the Coaches fault". Which Coach? McGuire, Sheens, Taylor or Potter. If we change, who would you take? Dean Pay, Ivan Henjak or risk it on Jason Ryles?
^None of the above are going to be a positive change!

Unless either Wayne Bennett or Craig Bellamy become free, forget changing the coach. Even then I could see Wayne or Craig failing here.

We dont build strong. We have had some of the most talented Juniors fly through here. Our vision seems to be this year and no further!

How many years has Defense the big D been an issue? Ok whos defensive coach?
Brooks, most talented Nr7 talked up as much as Nathan Cleary. Not meeting hype, ok whos ensuring he reaches potential?

Our long term plan is 2021. We have rebuilt our team year after year without a thought past 1 year. But hey lets do our 10th Rebuild, hire a new coach and recruit promissing talent that doesnt work out again.

I’m going to back brooks to hilt , whilst the club backs him , and he wants to be here . When that day comes , and it will at some point , whether he’s Johns 2.0 or Ben Black , single gamer , then I will back whoever the heir apparent is . That’s it .

There are many others on here that have stronger opinions on Brooks then me yet you seem to follow me around like a bad smell. I’m not obsessed with Brooks the person like you are. My opinion of him will constantly change depending on how he plays. If he takes ownership of his team and gets us some wins then I will be his biggest fan. If he doesn’t then I will be the first to call for changes.
