So Storm have offered Coates 850k for 2 years and he is mulling it over.. We need to have a serious chat to his management and at least put an offer in as he is worth way more than that.. I would offer 600k without hesitation for 3 years. Compare him to Nofo, Cotric and he is bigger, quicker and current SOO player that is only going to get better.. Madge / Hartigan get on the phone

Absolutely. I'd go so far as offering 1.9-2 million over 3 years. We've got to pay overs to get the first star or two. Sure, he's currently only worth about 450-500k. 600-650k is our ballpark to have any chance.

I think we need to think better then this.
First, Melbourne offer 850k for 2 years... what makes anyone think we have a chance offering 650k over 3?

Does Coates fit our team?
I would not have thought "winger" is what we need. Yes we need to score, but I think what Madge was doing in hiring BJ Leulia and James Roberts is get an experienced back pairing, we have spent the money there and it hasn't worked out, but I get the logic. Now what add Coates and Nofo... Where is Cini going to go? Talou? I don't want to loose Cini to Parra/dogs/easts/whoever because we did not leave room for him to develop.



Honestly, my view is we need to get our forward pack right and our big D right. Defense is key, we haven't got this right and I think we need more then Tamou and Joe O . A winger will not help that at all.

We need x factor. Often the game is in the balance and we can't score because everyone in our lineup are workers and no one can beat their man, create something out of nothing. A tall fast winger who'll be playing Origin for the next decade would be handy. Coates on 650 or Nof on 450, i sure know what i'd prefer.

We'll see, but i reckon Cini is a stop gap solution for us. Will play first grade this year and some of the next but isn't a strike player. Some of the juniors we have might be ready towards the end of next season and will overtake him as a starting player.

We've got plenty of props, and some excellent ones coming through the grades. No need for more. Second rowers is the issue, and finding the right lock. Tuki seems a great lock option if we go for a bigger body, otherwise Lidz may be a goer

if we keep Brooks and have Hastings one of those would move to the 13 role likely Hastings would leave no room for Liddle or likely Mmbye

I'm aware that's your view and i don't necessarily disagree. I was just pointing out the facts in regards to the other poster. They being that to suggest we would have lost the game if Brooks didn't cover up for him is absolute rubbish and completely disregards the part Joey played in scoring one try and helping to set up another. By all means, dislike the bloke, what he brings to the team and everything he stands for, but if someone is going to be critical of aspects of his game on the weekend, then it is only fair to point out the positive contributions he made of which resulted in 2 tries.

It is nothing to do with like or dislike. He is on a very good contract but it is not reflected in his performances. We have a heap of talent including Ogden and we should concentrate on him. Leilua has the UK option.

Agree.

Until he proves us wrong I prefer to see the positive side. Looked like a superstar at the Roosters (I actually remember some people on the forum asking why he looks so at home, and Brooks with more experience was struggling). Sure it's lesser opposition, but he's the best half over there which includes the likes of Widdop and Sezer.

Put it simply, when we made a break and the following tackle Brooks looked panicked, I believe Hastings would have turned that into a try 9 times out of 10.

I didn't want Tedesco back, but I did want Papenhuyzen to return. I agree with your analogy about not going back to an old girlfriend. For Papenhuyzen I'm prepared to make an exception.?

Ivan's never been my girlfriend but if he is prepared to come back some of the pitchforks would need to be put away. Effigies stored with the Brooks ones.

Personally, I think Ivan caused more problems for the Tigers than Teddy ever did, but each to their own. He was also at the club when they lost your favourite fullback.

Jackson Hastings is a Great Britain international and Man of Steel. Can't understand why Ricky Stuart, being a pretty useful half in his day, preferred George Williams over him.

Why would I deathride him? ?

The standard of ESL is at best the same quality as KOE. It’s a safe assumption to think he’s not better than anyone whose already here.
