If we are letting go of BJ and JTJ then we have a lot of young backs and bringing in an experienced professional who is a current origin centre (into a team with 0 origin players) is a good call. A lot for me also depends on what we do with Douehi as it changes what your outside backs look like but we in AJ, Talau, Douehi, GIlfart, Kei, Hoffman, FItzgibbon, etc we have lots of young outside backs and not much experience and Gagai has experience and talent and continues our build up of indigenous players which I like.

I know people talk about Gagai only playing well in Origin but his play at NRL level is high quality and that more comes from 3 yrs a t Knights when he was playing on the end of a horrible team.

Weve got 2 thirstysomething centres already with an option on both but neither likely to be taken up..why wld we want another one??
And btw...nobody in the NRL is as lazy as Gagai in non contract years!!!

Tamou to Super League

The name of Wests Tigers captain James Tamou has mysteriously appeared on the radar of Super League clubs in recent days.

Tamou was one of the Tigers’ big off-season signings but he is among the older players who have struggled with the frantic nature of the modern game.

In recent weeks, his playing time has been down and it appears Super League sides have been put on alert. It is understood the Tigers are not driving the push for Tamou in England.

However, Weekend Read understands that at least two Super League clubs have been sounded out about whether they would be interested in signing the former NSW forward.

His future has become an issue as the Tigers step up attempts to sign South Sydney centre Dane Gagai and talks over the future of Moses Mbye heat up.

Gagai was believed to be on Brisbane’s radar, but they are understood to have dropped off. Souths would love to keep him but can’t afford to retain both he and fellow Queensland player Jaydn Su’A.

Someone will have to go and the Tigers are hoping to capitalise on the salary cap squeeze at the Rabbitohs.

Moses, the Tigers former captain, has been given permission to explore his options and it is understood there were further talks this week over his next move.

Wow! the bigger news in that article is that we are keen on Gagai!

100% this. Have watched Kris closely during the year. He has size & speed. He marks his man when defending as well. This kid is a talent.
