On Today’s post game 2MMM interview with Nicho Hyens he said he had no offers for next year.
Sounded like the Broncos would like him.

We should make this happen.
He's a super star.

**I urge everyone to watch his sit down / face to face with Matty Johns**

Why?

Why do we all of a sudden decide to buy players based on podcasts or interviews?

It made me appreciate his character a lot more.
It was interesting, insightful and inspiring.

If you're a footy fan like MYSELF, it's one of the good success stories of rugby league.

* Not to mention is as a great player.
Can play anywhere and always looks like likely.
He's better than almost all our backs.
I like him at centre for us.

Tall, fast, safe, creative and good finisher.

I was against him a couple of weeks ago but Im warming to him. The problem for me is that we have bought Laurie for FB. IMO Hynes is too small for centre or 5/8. Would be good at 1

Hynes to small for centre or five eight, you must have him confused with someone else, he is plenty big enough at 188cm and 90kg

These Brooks supporters want no one who might eventually replace him.

Yes Hynes could play 7, said it himself recently.

So this has now turned to a Brooks' thread?

Laurie is better than Hynes at fullback, Doueihi is better than Hynes at centre and 5/8. Both of these players don't have Hughes Munster, JAC, Smith, Papenhuyzen and Grant in their team.

You are all over this forum telling us Hynes isnt good enough,

Sorry to say but the guy is a star.

In his own words he plays 1.6 & 7.

No, what I actually wrote is -

Both the above players don't have Papenhuyzen, JAC, Munster, Hughes, Smith and Grant in their team.

2 try's
9 try assists
16 Tackle breaks
All in 8 games and Melbourne has no Smith
It has been missing Papenhuyzen

I have attached a couple of images for all to see his stats

To not at least make a decent offer would be crazy when we haven't made finals for 10 years
When a player of Hynes ability comes up, these are the exact type of players we should be chasing
If we Let Bj Packer and Roberts go and manage to offload Mbye Signing Hynes would be a huge addition
It's a no brainer

Considering Hynes can cover the exact same positions as Mbye for half the money, then it’s an absolute no brainer!

Chammas on 100% footy has said that the dragons and mbye have met and have told mbye they want him this season.
Dragons want him to play 14.

Yep dragons want him this week! But the only issue is the contract they are offering is if mybe goes this year. I highly doubt the tigers would let him leave this year. Which means there’s a risk st George might not offer him a deal from next year. Meaning he could be stuck with us next year. Bit risky both ways. Interesting times ahead.

Also as for hynes, quality player! But just because he’s a quality player doesn’t mean we should buy him if he doesn’t fit into the team. I believe Laurie has cemented the fullback position. Which leaves the 6 for hynes, but we have mybe, Douhie, madden and Maybe Hastings if he isn’t playing lock. Don’t really see Madge doing that. Which leaves winger and centre, I don’t really see him being that effective, he’s not explosive and I haven’t seen him finish a try. Does he offer more impact than Joey ? No. Is he a great finisher like Talau? No. can he do the dirty runs that nofa,Joey, Talau do? I don’t think so.

He could be a good 14, but if Hastings is playing lock, I would think the 14 is his.

So maybe we offer that back spot for someone that brings something different, speed and explosion would be great! We probably need one more experienced back for next season. We have plenty of backs so no point in buying heaps. But an experienced centre or wing would be ideal since we will be losing one of jet or Joey next season.

I like Hynes a lot. I'm not sure Laurie is our long term fullback. Personally, I think 6 might be his best position. Not this year, certainly, and maybe not next either. But I remember Gould saying he thought Laurie's best position was 6.
Hynes might be the perfect 1 for us when/if Laurie moves to 6 and in the meantime, would make a very good centre.

I have seen enough of Hynes to sign him tomorrow to play No1 this guy can play--- High ball good. .positioning good..passing game good ... Attitude good..speed good ..footy smarts good .. defensively good ..big body good ...tackle breaks good..he is the fullback the team needs .Laurie has not impressed Tbh he is safe but that's about where it ends.
The talk of Gagia is a step backwoods the club needs to invest in youth obviously the attention span is limited here go back a season or two and see the real Gagia a god in maroon a nuffie in club colours another looking for a pension i find the talk of his signing as worrying to a say the least .

I see it like this

Would we want Hynes in out top 30
Would he be an upgrade on some of our top 30 players
Is he a better option then our junior crop
Is he a Quality Player
Would he provide much needed competition amongst our own playing group
Has he still got room to improve as a player
Would other clubs want him on their books

The answer to all these questions is YES
Actually I don't see to much downside on making an offer to Hynes
I would happily let go of BJ and use some of his money to sign him up
He has alot of upside to him

For me it all comes down to $

Smart man.
Very truthful words.

Crazy when there's great players available like Hyne, Lomax, Saab and people dismiss them like they're garbage.

Like Talau and Jet are super stars. ?

I wanted Lomax and very much Saab. Saab was clocked at a slightly higher speed than JAC. The way he's played with the Eagles only confirms my opinion of him.

Talau can finish and I've seen nothing from Hynes to suggest he can finish. He lacks speed.

What I wrote still stands with Laurie and Deouihi both far better footballers. They get the job done well without that quality of footballer around them. No disrespect to our players intended.

Just make it happen Wests Tigers.

We have a great chance to remove Mybe from the roster, dont screw it up.

Madden can play 6, Doueihi can play 6, Walters can play 6.

Simpkin can take the 14 jersey.

We dont need him for this season.

Tough one, if we let Mbye go then Doueihi goes to 6 and we are short a quality centre or winger. Reserve grade are doing well but I don't think Cooper, Hoffman, Fitzgibbon or any of their outside backs are up to first grade yet.

Keeping him might take away our chances of freeing ourselves of his contract though. Tough decision for the club indeed

The most important thing is reducing Mybe's impact on our salary cap.

If the dragons are that desperate they should be asked to take on the majority of the contract.

A player trade wont help us reduce his contract.

So Papenhuyzen went off early in the game
No Munster
Hynes was at 6 until he shifted to #1
They had Hughes at 7
They also had a stand in no name hooker
And Jennings on the wing
Yet he still killed it
I am pretty sure Hynes created alot of what he did himself in his last game

put it in a business sense, i have a junior accountant, my main accountant retires, do i automatically promote the junior accountant because he is already on my books? or do i go and find the best accountant that applies for the advertised job?

What if:
- You work for a firm that isn't very appealing to top-notch accountants.
- The only senior accountants who are willing to come and work for you are ones that literally can't get work anywhere else.
- All your most successful hires for the past decade have either been young accountants you've trained yourselves or relatively junior ones other firms don't appreciate.
- In fact, the reason why your firm isn't appealing to good accountants is literally because you've spent so long stacking the senior ranks with useless accountants, who do poor quality work and have lost you all your good clients.

It has to be a horses for courses approach, surely? If there is one thing the Tigers do ok it's finding players who are good quality but are blocked or overlooked at other clubs. Basically every single good players we've had in recent years has come to us this way, while every single dud has been a "proven first grade" signing.

Also, we're clearly not one or two players away from competing to win the comp. The young core we have needs that amount of time to grow - to work out who's got what it takes. Sure, we can complement that with some experience from elsewhere and, to be clear, if we can sign young players from elsewhere with some first grade experience and a chance to improve I'm all for it - Doueihi types. I'm not totally sold on Hynes but that kind of guy is worth a look, provided we don't have to pay him like a origin regular before he's justified it.

What we *have* to do is avoid the kind of quick fix signings we've been making from Adam Blair to Moses Mbye. One or two guys who aren't much better than bog average first grade standard but cost us 10% of the cap apiece is precisely what's been killing us for years. Shoving a Dane Gagai into this roster on $500k a year will make nack-all difference to our performance (ok, it might move us from 12th to 10th) and it *will* mean we lose a Talau or a Simpkin when we need to find money to retain them.

i agree mostly
if we keep blooding the young guys you need someone around to lead them, someone to say alright if we can come through this 20 minute onslaught we will be on easy street and can win it
we need someone with big game experience, otherwise the young kids will get demoralised getting pumped by 30 every week and start to look elsewhere, somewhere where there is a chance to get a win just because they have experienced players around them.
its a fine mix, at the moment i see us having the large number of young kids and the experienced guys we have are either flops on the field (tamou) or don't have the voice to spread the word (brooks)

I’d keep him around till the end of the year. Especially coming off our best win of the year in which he played a key role.

Glsd we r no longer tigers of old where we will just shove him off with no replacement in return
