They even stole one of our biggest douches of all time.Fifita.
Douchbags off the BUS!
We seem to be recruiting people who are pretty team focused. Reynolds is an awesome dude and the Canterbury guys love him. Unlike Dugan or Ferguson, the guy builds the team and unity. Dogs dropped Reynolds and their season tanked. We actually had a fairly unified team with Marshall and Farah and a recruitment department who paid overs for everyone!!!
Ok I digress. Were building a team here. You want team building players. Reynolds, Packer, ET are great glue to keep a team together and playing solid for an 8 appearance.
We don't need to risk it on buying Ferguson to push that 8 to a 7 or 6th this season. Two seasons later, yes. That's were we hope to convert a top 4 spot into a finals appearance…. But Fergusson could ruin the team easily, Cleary hasn't set up the culture yet, Roosters can manage him we can't.
If I was looking to bring any NRL bad boy, I would actually bring Carney in when Marshall retires. At that time we would have had our team culture in place, Carney was actually behaving at the Sharks and probably has mellowed enough to stay out of trouble till retirement.
The whole attitude of "2 more seasons" hasn't worked for the last 6 seasons…
Here's a crazy idea, why don't we just buy the best players we can? I think it's fair to say that Cronulla fans are having a better time following a team full of douchebags than we are supporting a team that never makes the finals.
@ said:@ said:@ said:Apparently Blake Ferguson is being shopped around. Would he be worth the risk or not?
No. A bigger goose than Moylan.
But your happy to have the biggest Goose of all time onboard in Reynolds
…at $750K might I add :unamused:

At least Moylan and Ferguson are quality players unlike our new Golden Goose .

@ said:The majority of players we've signed are current or former Origin or international players or have played in grand finals. It's not as if they were plodders or not in demand with other clubs, we just got in before the rest.

Further to this, given the amount of charity work Reynolds does, to say he's the biggest goose of all time is harsh. Also, if we had to pay that much for him, how much would we have has to pay a guy like Cronk or Moylan?
@ said:We have a no dickheads policy. Penrith have come out on top signing Maloney. Great player and great bloke. Moylan can play, but you only have to look at Hayne to see how a brat can disrupt a club completely - not just a team

On the field Reynolds is a tool …. Then take away his enthusiasm he's an average player at best .
As for his charity work off the field that's great !
Off the field I couldn't care if players choose to bubble at urinals , hump pets or drink breezers on rooftops.
It's about winning games on the field .
As for Cronk and Moylan , did we even enquire about there services or was it all speculation as it is on here with EVERY player that's up for a contract renewal or is looking for a sea change ?

For an average player, he got one hell of a send off by Dogs fans. They loved the guy. I think he'll be a revelation under Cleary. Hasler damaged him beyond belief imo.

On Cronk and Moylan… We showed a lot of interest in Moylan. I heard nothing about Us offering deals to Cronk.
Cronk IMHO we should have really pressed for an offer. I think resigning Brooks then Marshall locked us into not taking Cronk. He would have been $1M or even $1.2M per season for us and worth it. I don't think we were even considered though.
As for picking good players but not caring for their off field behaviour... I hear you on Bubblers and silly stuff with dogs. This should have been laughed off, they are football players and will do silly things.
However Kids look up to our players. Reynolds shows himself as a champion person, someone who does Charity work and signs autographs is the exact kind of person we NEED and should have on the team. If some nob can play a margin better then him, but acts like a total nob off the field they can get off the bus now!
Stuff the finals, competitive team sure but lets remember that these guys are role models and tigers first!

Do you have kids?
Sorry but it needs to be about more than just winning games.
Yeah I want to follow a successful club but I want to be able to respect the blokes playing for my club AND I want to see kids be able to admire and model our professional players

Parents, Family, Teachers, Police, Ambulance drivers ..everyday folk doing the best with what they have are Role Models..
