Joey Manu would be mine..

Big yes from me Geo. Still hopeful we’ll get TPJ but everything’s gone quiet on that front.

Let us all recall that it has been 5 days since the rumour broke and the only thing we have confirmed so far is that Pangai has been given permission to negotiate.

What makes anyone think that this bunch of soft, entitled, lazy, arrogant and comfort-zone players are going to follow Finucane's lead?
I rate Tamou.
I don't believe he was brought here to run for 200mtrs and make copious amounts of tackle-breaks, off-loads, score 10 tries and kick goals at 95%.
His leadership is about recovery, professional conduct, never lying down and adopting a winning mentality, the rest is up to guys like Mikaele, Musgrove, Luccie, Uto, Brooksy, Garner, TommyT, Joe O, Jet, Nofo, Mbye and the rest to use their God-given talents to the best of their ability.
Is he still a leader if this bunch of powder-puffs lack the mental and intestinal fortitude to follow?...
I love TPJ's X-factor, which we're missing, but giving Tamou some back-up in the mould of Finucane would be far more conducive to establishing a platform that drives the values of tenacity, pride of performance, striving to succeed, especially in the face of adversity which breed a winning culture, something we've sorely lacked for far too long.

We need two new second rowers and a 13 and probably another centre.

I agree

But 2 centres.

Cos Douihei is a 6 ?

We got the pommy guy coming might be ok

Gildart is an international centre he will be ok for us

His highlight look good but I haven't seen him play and highlights are called highlights for a reason.

tell me more about highlights

I would like to see the highlights of his highlights because I found his highlights video to be too long to really highlight the plays that were truly highlights instead of the plays that were good without truly being highlights. I genuinely believe that this post is a highlight of my forum career and highlights the type of highlight I can provide my readers.

Ideally the WT leader would in a mould of Papalii, Junior Paulo, or Taukeiaho - the enforcer, but when we ended up with a "workhorse" I expected at least "Woods KPIs" from him e.g. max 3 missed tackles, at least 10 m per run, and MR > 150m per game. Sadly, he delivered only once.

He would be good, but we already have enough props (I refuse to call them middles) Twal, Tamou, Steffano, Mikaele, Amone and Musgrove. I deliberately left Packer out for obvious reasons. Actually what is the attraction of Musgrove, some blokes on here have big wraps on him, but I don't see it. For my money he is reserve grader at best with poor discipline who makes headlines for all the wrong reasons, yet some blokes are counting down sleeps until he is fit to play. I understand that they see him as an enforcer, but who needs an enforcer if your not allowed to punch or make contact with the head.

Some of those players you named played very well last Saturday so I think what you have written is a little unfair.

The finger should be pointed at Maguire. He looked like a man without answers during that post match press conference. He's actually had that look for a significant period of time. Perhaps if the club installed a leader as coach, we may achieve better results and performances. I read many comments which describe Maguire as tough. Tough does not necessarily mean you are good, it could mean you use it to hide your lack of tactical nous or comms skills.

Jury is also out on our hooker

Good one, but 1st of Apr is long gone:blush:
Many people don't watch the game at all, they just hate their straw men targets, otherwise they would remember when he scored an interception try, and outpaced their fastest backs! Arguably he is, with Cook, the fastest NRL hooker!

Don’t remember Cam Smith/Buderus/Walters/Hodgson scoring long range tries. Cos it’s not really their job.

But many people argued that he is so slow, I just pointed that that statement is not true.

Needs to take a few angry pills and show a bit of mongrel or he ain’t gonna cut it.

He did show some mongrel on Saturday, it was just used against Stefano…

Can someone with the skills i don't possess, please tell us the players we have brought from Melbourne, and the success rate.?

There has only been about 6 and to my mind only 1 of them has had success at WT. Harry Grant.
I might add, his circumstances were different weren’t they.

More interestingly and I would bow to those who have a greater memory for these types of things than me - can anyone provide an example of **any** Storm player who has left the Storm that has been an absolute **standout** at another club (with the obvious exception of Cronk and GI - who would be successes just about anywhere) ??
I reckon the list is much longer of players who subsequently disappeared..... happy to be proven wrong...

Tohu Harris at the Warriors goes well

Well it would be hard to say how many players anywhere leave their club and become "standouts". Most standouts don't leave their club.

But - you've got Cronk, GI and Tohu Harris, which is actually a decent start. Tino is still pretty good, Origin rep. Gareth Widdop, James Maloney, Proctor, Aiden Tolman, Jeremy Smith, Folau, Kidwell at the Rabbits. Matt Orford won Dally M after he left Melbourne. Kimmorley at Dogs.

OK - for the sake of the argument as I have little to do today lol - with the exception of Cronk, GI and probably, maybe Tohu - would any of the others you mentioned, at the time they left the Storm (not Storm form) have made a significant difference to us and made us a top 4 team ?

IMHO Widdop, Orford, Kidwell, Proctor et al - it would be a big no.

But then we probably need Superman to be a Top 4 team.....

Any of those halves, at the time they left, yes, without cross-checking who we had at the time. Definite if we mean nowL Kimmorley-era Dogs, Eagles-era Orford, Dragons-era Widdop, post-Warriors Maloney.
Jeremy Smith would have been very handy.

accept your opinion, but for me, no.

Widdop was like what 22 , when he left the storm ? Orford was hardly a storm culture guy , he went down from the eagles to the storm , then came back . And Maloney was a kid when he left the storm .
The point isn’t people in the storm system are all potential dud buys , but storm system players are dud buys .
They’re 2 distinct things . The issue is working out which is which .

You may be right but I wonder if they are able to draw inspiration from what Tamou produces in his rather short stints on the field

brooks wasn't named above but he played well as he has done for quite a few weeks now.

Garner, gets a pass. He's improved this year

Tamou 3 runs for 26 meters (14M off kick returns...) over 4 seconds average play the ball. That's a low bar for a pass mark.

One thing I’m pretty sure of is we will not sign Finucane. The 29yo who is asking 4 years at $800k does not fit with our current recruitment philosophy imo. The media have been doing a huge sell job to wedge in the dominant buying motive of his “leadership” value. I’m confident that Hartigan, Sheens and Madge are aware that WT can’t buy leadership, we’ve seen a few examples during the last decade. Interestingly,Tamou mentioned a few of the young guys were doing the urging at halftime in Madge’s absence. That’s where the leaders are, who need to be encouraged.

Their current strategy isn’t working and needs to be thrown in the bin. Dale is exactly who we need and to pay overs for blind Freddy can see that unfortunately you don’t buy back bone with cheap discards no body wants and Madge not good enough to coach their meritocracy out of them
