Question - With Paul Vaughn looking like joining the Dogs on the cheap side do we look at entering the party??
He would come cheap and it would not be long term but he would come into the 13 straight up. If we don't get him at least it will make dogs pay more

I would have no problems getting him for 400-450k for 2 years and not for his leadership but more for his work he does on the field.

I'd enter the race purely to make them pay more put their cap out of whack even further.

Vaughan is on the decline and has character issues. Obviously was a great middle a year or two back, but he's dropped off a bit and will continue to do so IMO. Bit of diminishing returns at play.
I'd rather we focus on a middle that can play as a pivot and fill the #13, rather than a straight up and down prop.

Of course we also need a top right edge.

No. He makes as much sense for us as he does for the dogs. You’ve had every man and there dog come out and say he’s not a leader and all he’d do is hamper the development of our young forwards. Give me mikaele resigned every day

Left field suggestion, Blake Ferguson as an edge forward. We currently tolerate Garner there.

Blake is a winner. hes not the fast, has an error. but he wants to win everything.... and the nose, its smudged like butter on toast

Western Force are no longer negotiating with him he was asking $800,000 their now in talks with isako

I will probably get laughed at for this but I reckon Nofoaluma can move to fullback when Laurie goes down. Then the defence just slides one out. Nofo is good under high ball and good kick returns. Laurie's defence isn't any better than Nofa's.
I reckon this is why we don't need to pick Mbye for the sake of covering positions, it's a waste of a spot on the team when we've got guys like Jake Simpkin, Kiah Cooper, Zac Cini, Jock Madden, Alex Seyfarth & Shawn Blore who need first grade experience.

I don’t fancy seeing LL defend in the centres.

I always thought Garner would be the default centre as he played in the backs earlier in his career. Rather than Luc.

Serious question, have we made a high profile signing since Adam Blair?

My mental list after that seems to be blokes who had seen better days.

Josh reynolds

Nene McDonald is playing centres for the Jets at the moment. I have seen a few Jets games and he is always solid in defence and runs the ball hard. I'm not expecting too much enthusiasm from this suggestion, but he's in Sydney and does have that 100-150 game experience...

I'd say his best days were behind him when we signed him. Certainly a long time since he played origin.

panga and Vaughan sounds like a culture disaster. just sign Norman and the dogs are set

Curtis Scott could be useful as well.

Even if we were to get Milf at bargain basement prices, where would you play him?

I don't think he's better than Brooks or Doueihi in the halves based on current form.

I don't think he's better than Laurie at fullback based on his current form.

Would you move any of those three from their positions to give him a go? I wouldn't.

My concern, is that we don't have anyone who can handle fullback if Laurie is out for any reason. It is such an important position today, we need a quality winger/centre who can play FB. At a cheap price only he would be valuable, i think he is underrated.

Good point and agree.. I don't want to keep moving AD around as he clearly wants the 6 and deserves it.. If we keep moving him around he might get sick of it and say I'm out when contract is up.. He is our future captain in my eyes.

I think Mbye is more than capable as a BACK UP fullback option.

At another club...

Good clubs keep on getting better.

Absolutely do not like TPJ joining Penrith for the short-term.

At least he'll show some of you how good he will be, and that he is indeed a big miss.

I'm sure he'll look good at Penrith, let's see how good he looks at the Bulldogs.

These are not the kind of influences Brent Naden needs around him either.

Does anyone know if we have officially let Joey and JTJ go for next year ? I read somewhere that we have not taken up the options so can anyone confirm?

No idea. I think it’s understood BJ won’t be re-signed. JTJ is a different proposition. Okay he’s not the player he was in the past but he’s incredibly cheap given his pedigree. He’s actually not a terrible squad signing.
