The only way I see this remotely being true, is if the Raiders rang asking for Brooks and the dismissive reply was yeah if you take Mbye as well and give us Wighton and Hodgson as way telling them that Brooks isn't available. The Raiders then tell Hooper as a way of getting back at the Tigers and then Hooper blows it all out of proportion.

Pretty close. The Raiders approached Brooks ( via third party ) not the club. Of course Brooks told the club. WT are no way letting Brooks go, but since the Raiders were asking, WT offered a way out counter deal knowing it would never succeed. Something like Whighton etc for some Flegg players. More or less a "hands off Brooksy" thing. Anyway, Chinese whispers....Hooper....you know the rest.

Brooks' integrity in advising WTs management of the approach is first class. He could have said nothing, not put in for the remaining games, claiming mental health issues until granted a release.

Who'd want to live in Canberra? I did for a year and I nearly topped myself.

18 months in Canberra, single and had a great time. The cold got to me and being the caring employer that it is, Defence sent me to a much warmer climate for a long time.

**MAJOR OVERHAUL FOR THE SHARKS**

THE Cronulla Sharks are on the verge of a major roster overhaul with the 2016 premiers closing in on the signature of Dale Finucane and also discussing making a play for Wests Tigers halfback Luke Brooks.

The Sharks, St George Illawarra, Newcastle and North Queensland are the last club’s standing in the race to sign two-time premiership-winner Finucane from the Melbourne Storm.

The champion forward is tipped to make a decision today on Friday.

The Brooks play is a left field one from the Sharks and is only early doors at this stage but makes sense if new Cronulla coach Craig Fitzgibbon decides to push ahead with it.

Matt Moylan is also on the verge of agreeing to a one-year extension with the club and the Sharks are also intent on making a play to try and retain Will Chambers.

THE Wests Tigers official who spit-balled the Luke Brooks and Moses Mbye swap deal with Raiders guns Jack Wighton and Josh Hodgson was CEO Justin Pascoe.

In fairness to Pascoe the Canberra Raiders had signalled an interest in trying to get Brooks to the national capital for next year as the Green Machine continue their search for a halfback.

Anyone who knows football is aware of how in the like-for-like trade department there’s only one team who’s emerging the winner out of such an outlandish swap.

Even though Jack Wighton has been down on form this year he’s still the reigning Dally M Medallist and an out-and-out gun player.

Wighton and Raiders coach Ricky Stuart are also extremely thick and there’s no way the Green Machine want to see the five-eighth link with another club.

Pascoe has lit up social media this week in the wake of Fox League’s ‘Wild Wests: Tales from Tiger Town’ documentary which has everyone in rugby league talking.

**TIGERS’ SHEENS REUNION DELAYED BY COVID**

THE Wests Tigers new head of football performance Tim Sheens was due to be in quarantine in Sydney by now but unfortunately had his travel plans cancelled at the last minute due to the current COVID chaos.

Sheens has begun his new role from the UK and has been busy holding Zoom meetings with a number of key personnel at Concord.

The Tigers are currently working towards getting Sheens on the first plane possible to return home to Australia.

Rubbish - if sharks offer him a deal and we let him out of his contract we don't pay anything. You would think when journos make things up they would at least do a bit of research to make their fairy tale seem a bit more real.

wighton and AD in the halves would be terrible, its running 2 five eights.

Pooper is still spewing fake news.
The only thing he said that is factual in terms of a player swap is that the Raiders initiated a conversation with WT to swap a player for Brooks.

I think that’s the way it was plates. Wording in the article seems to hint at hard arsed apology (ie to be fair to Pascoe).
I remember after Raiders lost their English half and lost whole lot of games they were putting out feelers for Brooks.

I don't understand some people's preoccupation with a players nationality/heritage. It doesn't make him a better or worse player and it doesn't dictate where or who he will play with (these days).

Personally I have no interest in a player's background but it would be naive to think it doesn't come into play when players are considering clubs.

Kiwis leaning towards Warriors or Roosters, Souths Indigenous connection, Poms going to Canberra, Lebanese to Dogs and even players linked to us through Samoan heritage.

Then there's Parramatta who largely attract scumbags.

Dragons and Tigers have a closer relationship than you think, I think we’ll work a deal with them for getting rid of Mbye which will benefit both parties

Ryan Webb is the current CEO there, and only like 2 years ago was the COE (I think was the position) alongside Pascoe for us…. Plus we’re both in the Brisbane bubble and can make contact (face to face) in terms of negotiating a deal

Dragons need players in general, we wanna offload a player in general….. it’ll work out by August 1st if I had to guess and have Doueihi at 6 for the remainder of the year

If Pascoe did indeed propose that deal, it really should raise concerns…. I’m confident it happened, otherwise tigers would be biting back by now or a club statement etc

Why should it raise concerns? Even if it happened you can't fairly judge it without context. If he just said as a joke for example, "Yeah sure, you can have Brooksy, BJ Leilua and Matt Groat and Kyle Lovett on sign and trades if you send us Wighton, Papalii, Tapine and Rapana" then would you hold that against him? Why can't he take the piss?
