Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Fact of the matter is no one wants to come here.
We have an opportunity to develop our own guys now, cut some dead wood and have cash in the bank. Don’t buy players for the sake of buying players.

Problem is even though our reserve grade side is performing well there are only perhaps 2 or 3 of those players (if that) who look like they will make an impact as a 1st-grader. Haven't seen any of them where you watch and go 'wow I can't wait to see him in the NRL'. Not sure what our younger players, Flegg etc are like and whether there are any potential NRL standouts in amongst that lot.

Me thinks Brooks to Newcastle and Pearce to Tigers. Simple.Let's get it done.

I don't think I've ever seen that many downvotes since I've been on this forum @Crucible. That's why I'm not a fan of downvotes - everyone is entitled to their opinion, regardless.

In saying that Mitch has previously said that he wanted to create his own legacy beyond Juniors and has rejected our offers before.

IMO - Brooks needs to stay and cement his halves partnership with Adam. If it doesn't work then the club will need to re-assess with Jackson in the new year.

At 6ft and 92kg I see Jackson playing the role of a hybrid ball playing lock. He's smart, quick, knows how to bark orders and he can also drop into the 9 and 7 in broken play when needed.

Get the cheque book out for Harry Grant!

We’re gonna have a cash flexibility of nearly 2.5 mil if Mbye leaves…. free to talk to clubs November 1st

Grant was idolised and closed to worshipped at the Tigers by us fans, goes back to Melbourne and even when he was fit he was benched… I remember one game he was named to start then a late change brought him to the bench, Brandon Smith seems to be very very close to the boys at Melbourne and they’re a culture based team

If we throw 1mil a year at him (I’d do it in a heartbeat) for like 5 years and just be aggressive…. Melbourne would be forced to match it or get close and with a fall back option of Brandon Smith they may be inclined to not go with us and may just choose to retain Smith on less

Grant will be the best 9 in this game for the next decade or so and would be worth every penny, we’ve had Mbye on 900k…. I think Grant at 1mil would be a major upgrade

Dogs and Dragons have drained themselves out of the race, and I can’t see any other teams with cap space that could go with us in terms of matching the deal…. All these players signing with rivals may be a blessing in disguise as they have no more cap space left

Then from Grant we can start building our team and it will help our chances of acquiring other stars as we’ll still have a lot of money left, in addition to the junior pathways this club has and the solid young core also

Come back Grant and be the man to lead this young side to the finals as our future captain!

I'm still not convinced that very good players atttact other very good players, i believe it's mainly about the money/length of contract, for many years, we had arguably one of the most popular and entertaining player (B Marshall)with skills rarely seen before (please see some of his highlights) but during this players presence in the team there were still not any or many good signings, so i don't believe good signings would attract other good signings.

If we did not attract “hyper expensive” players when we had Sheen, Marshall, Farah, Simona, Tedesco, Woods, Taupau, Ellis, Koroibete…. I highly doubt that likes of Fatrell would be a magnet.?

Well I am convinced we can't attract good signings, so things have to change to arrest this major issue

Are people seriously wanting a 30 year old JDB on a multi year deal deal when he's on a long term deal at about 800k with the drag queens. Massive pass

I love Harry to death but I really don't see him coming back here. the only reason Smith is keeping him out of the side is because the bloke has struggled with injuries all year. he's a generational talent, Melbourne will let Cheese go before they let Haz go unfortunately.

While we don't appear to be able to attract players, the lack of comms on re-signing players such as Mikaele, Seyfarth and our young Flegg players is concerning. Also upgrades for Laurie and Stefano. A comms release would be nice. We do have a comms dept?

NRL transfer market: Who your club wants to sign and what they need for 2022

WESTS TIGERS

The poor Tigers can’t land a tadpole let alone a big fish. Their latest move is an 11th hour bid for Dale Finucane after Tevita Pangai Jr and Scott Sorensen knocked them back. I keep hearing Aaron Woods, with his big-body, leadership qualities and emotional ties to his former club, could finish in the black and gold.

Much like Riccio couldn't land a journalism job at anything other than a pathetic rag like the DT. I don't know when being a complete tool became par for the course, even for DT writers.

Finucane is not going to win a premiership here. Not in the next 3 years. So what is the draw card?

He's from a continuously winning team, with an excellent culture and work ethic.

Complete opposite of TPJ in other words.

Thanks, but you miss understand me.
Not what is the draw card for us.
I absolutely agree with you.
What is the draw card for him selecting us?

Meh, woodsy wouldn't add much and I'm a massive fan of his. For dirt cheap he would be okay I guess but if we keep Mikaele and Seyfarth would we need him? Maybe as depth I guess but we've got a lot of young forwards.
