Brandon will stay at the Storm now that they have Finucane’s cash to upgrade him.

From Phil Rothfield Sunday Telegraph 25/7/21:
"Maybe it's not Michael Maguire's fault that the tigers kep missing out on big signings. Former Canberra raiders hooker Simon Woolford blames the the club's general manager of footbal, Adam Hartigan. "With people like Adam Hartigan ( who doesn't return phone calls or emails) it doesn't really surprise that they miss out on key targets like Tevita Pangai". Woolford wrote in social media."

As you always hear ...clubs like the Roosters and the Storm don't lose people they want to really keep

Hartigan and Woodward ..........

Roosters were furious when Hartigan said that he was leaving to go to Wests Tigers they ushered him straight out the door and wouldn’t even let him near his office.

Not if we offer a million a year for 4 years. If we want to pay marquee money for someone at least the cheese will actually be worth it.

I agree. We need something to break the back of this. If we can do something to get B smith across the line (Harry T 3rd party)... we should do it.

We've unfortunately got 2 decent hookers, so he's not in the ideal position. He doesn't want to play lock.

We need to get some characters back around the place. Madge needs something to balance out the serious mood. I think that's the value Benji would have added.

Cheese could do the same.

Cheese is the right move, as always, the value comes in the terms of the contract.

Personally, I would begin with a 3 year deal, with a fourth year club option, at 700k, which includes a swap with Liddle to secure a release for next year.

Simpkin could play second fiddle for a year or two as Smith owns the hooking role with an in-game lock shift.

Lids is playing well, but I think his ceiling is lower than that of Simpkin, which I think should be heavily considered.

He's a huge asset to WTs. His junior recruitment has been outstanding. If he can get Egan Butcher across to the WTs that is a greats outcome. He is a part of our future.

We will have to find our own Brandon Smith. We need self believe in our recruitment staff. My concern is not with junior recruitment.

With Packer (700), BJ (600), Roberts (200), Walters (200), MCK (200k) all almost certainly going plus no more contribution to Reynolds (300) we must save around $2.2m
We’ve signed the two from the Super League (800) and I doubt we were fully spent on the cap this year, guessing as with all of this, but say 400 under
All up that would see us with around $1.8m to spend on three players
What do others think, is that about right?

I think we should ignore the off contract list.
It's a grave yard.

The next move is to see what happens over the next few weeks and the off season.
Much like we did with Maumalo.

There'll be some movement and we'll (likely) recruit some current contracted players.

There's a few I like the look of that could be realistic but let's see what magic the club can work to get the job done.

Nah screw a 700k 3 year deal, we need to unload on melbourne with a nuke of an offer, not a half hearted slap. And if signing B. Smith means Liddle has to move on, as painful as that would be with the heart and loyalty he's shown, it has to be done. Cheese starting hooker with Jake Simpkin apprenticing under him and on the interchange.

It's that or rookies looking for a shot. There's just about no good experienced players off contract anymore.

Let's avoid the marquee guys and get some solid off cards and good junior's.

Melbourne style.

Would be nice to know what the club is up to hoping there is a grand plan hidden behind all this.surely we've hit some recruitments by now, if so they've kept it hush hush

Maybe if you all didn't rip in to pascoe relentlessly he'd still be doing his exclusive interviews with the ceo

I definitely think there is a need to communicate something. We're losing and getting belted in the media, so we need some positive news.

Just need to win mate, the rest is noise. No amount of talking will overcome the need to win football - in fact I think it would just make it worse, look like excuses.

It would certainly help, I think wins and losses are going to continue to yo-yo especially with the run of games we have.

It's a bit of a chicken and egg problem. No elite players will come here while we're not playing finals, and we need them to play finals. Only hope is the young players like Laurie, Stefano, AD, Simpkin, Simpkins take the next step.

700k as a starting point is hardly half-hearted.

Its no point offering 700k when you know B. Smith will stay at the storm for 600k. Besides we've had literal millions tied up in reynolds/packer/mbye. A million a year for the cheese would only be packers contract plus a little bit more. Well worth it in my opinion.
