Manly have officially announced the signing of Joel Thompson…

THE NRL are a joke, manly breach the cap then sign a player like him.

Aren't Manly in trouble for historical breaches rather than the current roster?

Yes but one of the punishments being talked about is Manly having $400k less to spend in their cap next year

Correct

My beef is Manly were able to assemble a very good squad while being in breach of the cap, other sides were disadvantaged as the could not fairly compete in the player market with Manly. Okay they may be compliant for 2018 and they may have their cap reduced by 400g, but the bottom line all of their quality players will be running around in 2018, plus Joel Thompson. If you want clubs to take the cap seriously you have to come down like a ton of bricks, but the NRL are so weak they do not want to upset their media partners, its not good for ratings if one team is basically out of contention from round 1 due a cap penalty.

I sent off a email to the NRL complaining about the above and got back a weak as p.ss reply. Saying how vigilant the NRL police the cap.

anyway merry xmas all and lets hope 2018 is a very good year for us long suffering WT supporters

Hi All

Is a minimum of 30 or max? Could we sign 32 or 33 if we have the cap space?

Hoping all are having a great Christmas as well :righton:

Not sure if we were rumoured to be in the mix but Curtis Scott has signed with the Storm for 3 years and Alex Walmsley has signed with the Dragons from 2019.

I love it. Sure to piss of some Dogs fans, especially since we were linked to him last year.

Soo.. who do you all think we'll target now that we have another roster spot open…

Think it was the right decision but we were already looking thin in the outside backs so I think we will be looking for a centre/wing/fullback

If you look we have only Milne and Masters as centre with Fonua and Kev fighting it out for the wing / outside back position.

Be interesting to see if they go for someone more experienced or bring a young bloke in with speed. I'm ok with either and I'm sure Ivan knows what he needs both for this year and also moving forward.

I saw last night on Nathan Gardner's wikipedia page (former Sharks players caught up in their drug scandal) that it says he is signed to the WestsTigers … another forum page says he signed just before christmas .. ?? fake news .. ?? Anyone know anything about this .. ??

97% sure we haven't signed him. If we had, it would be in ISP but, they already released the full ISP squad the other day and he wasn't a part if it. Wikipedia also said that we had signed Corey Harawira-Naera last year so I wouldn't put too much stock in what is written on there.
