Comments suggesting it doesn't matter as they're only reserve graders are missing the point. These players were identified by us and we made them offers. They turned us down. There is no point having a youth strategy if we're unable to sign them.

The vast majority of NRL players will resign with their current clubs. This is not an issue unique to Wests Tigers. Do you think the Wests Tigers were the only club that identified either of these guys?

They are not the only two players we've gone after. We've gone after many other players that have signed with rival clubs.

But we have signed players from rival clubs as well? There are 16 clubs, you can’t sign them all, at least we identified them, if we did in fact make offers?

Not for next year we haven't. We've signed sweet bugger all.

We’ve signed 26 players for next year.

Who have we added to the roster so far, other than 2 ESL players?

So you want me to name players we have signed without naming the players we have signed? ?‍♂️

Seriously anyone that doesn't see that there is a HUGE issue with recruitment at the moment is blind

But we dont know what the club has in mind as far as recruitment goes...their not going to let us know everyday what their up to...

The club appears not to know what it has in mind as far as recruitment goes Bringing the Seyfarth re-signing out now tells us all we need to know.

How do you draw that conclusion?

The NRL recruitment cup is overflowing!

We're all frustrated by the last 10 years but it's a bit harsh seeing a re-signng of a promising player as a negative.

Agreed. He has great defence, footy smarts and can pass. Needs to work on his speed and lateral movement but he is definately a keeper.

He is one of my favorite players. He is a goer.

We know they were after TPJ, JAC, HSS and Egan Butcher. We know Madge called Vaughan. We know we didn't sign any of them.

Don't forget Isaako.

And TPJ twice ?

So you are making something negative about something that is positive?

I like Seyfarth and if you search way back that goes to his SG Ball days. Releasing his re-signing at near the time we get word of Egan re-signing with the Roosters is ordinary.

The club didn’t release the non signings, but they should release actual signings when they happen.

So what? We are a club that isn’t very attractive because we have spent so much time near the bottom. That won’t change overnight.

You conveniently ignore all the junior talent we have signed because we missed out on 2.

We've missed out on a lot more than two unless of course we didn't really make them an offer at all -

TPJ
JAC
LM
AJ Brimson
Lomax
Jai Arrow
HSS
Egan

Ah so now you’re changing the argument to make the list longer, sorry I didn’t realise players in their mid 20,s were classed as junior talent.

Not changing the argument at all. Egan and HSS were no doubt being recruited for our NRL side, not to sit in KOE. These are players we were linked to and have signed zero. Our miss rate is shocking.

Do you believe bringing Sheens back is an admission a cog is amiss in our recruitment wheel (note I believe Hartigan is doing a fine job)?

Hartigan is also a big piece of the recruitment team, not just Madge.

If our recruitment purportedly sucks, the blame lays with the entire team. You don't get to pick and choose who to single out.

If I ever want a dose of sheer idiocy, I watch youtube re-runs of the march against Covid in Sydney a month ago, or come on here and read some of the dribblers telling us our recruiting is a complete and abject failure because some nuffie chose to play elsewhere.

I pray for you.....

I feel at the moment we're struggling to sign quality players between the ages of 20-30. Outside of that we're doing well.

What a silly statement to make.

It was clearly a joke.

Was it, the statement was made, none the less.

Yeah and you will not get an argument from me about that either. We are flush with cash so it's not about that. It's either we are refusing to pay overs to attract the talent as it appears we have had a bit of a moneyball approach of late, or they don't want to be here.

But my reply to Paws was moreso about his willingness to apportion blame toward Madge in it's entirety and absolve absolutely everyone else in the process. Never anyone else's fault but Maguire's.

We do have to get some players but I think we can field a decent team next year without any more signings. Hopefully we get some more though.

Come Nov 1, hopefully we will hear of something?

That is strategic recruitment at its best.

You should know, Nov 1 is when you start to negotiate with contracted players who are coming off contract end of next season?

We would want to highlight our targets and go hard for them now, even if that includes paying overs.
New team coming soon in Brisbane that will be flush with cash and chasing big signings. Easy TPA up here as well.

I believe bringing Sheens in will bring us in line with our competition. It’s not a secret that the club was spending less on our football department while correcting our finances. Now that we are financially stable we can afford to have specialist people to look at recruiting and pathways.

I’m not expecting Sheens to cure all the ills of the past though. As I said we are starting from a low base. Until we can be more competitive we aren’t going to attract the big names. The junior development will get us there.

if we can sign Thompson with the dogs chipping in around $350k I think that's good business. but again, do we need another front rower?

centre, back row, lock, backup fullback, winger. those have to be the targets.

Is it good business if your questioning the need for him in the team?
