Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Really not enthused about Woods either. Would prefer we go for another young prop who will run hard. Woods still makes metres but they're the typical stat padding runs we always got from him at Wests.

Having said that, I'd rather pick up Scott, Elliot and Woods for 650K all up than sign Kikau for $900K.

Scott and Eliott ?

We might as well be sponsored by the reject shop considering we pick up everyone else's scraps

Scraps for some are diamonds for others.

I do not want Woods at any price. Need to set a standard at the Club.

For mine a Mikaele can grow into a prop that would exceed Woods. no need for Woods and Tamou.

I don't want him here either after what he pulled as club captain. Plus I really don't think he is what we need anyway. But in terms of value for money I'd prefer what I mentioned above.

I personally would have let Tom go, hard runner but still making the same mistakes he did when he first debuted. There's got to be a point where he stops dropping the ball and getting caught out lumbering back to the line.

A few nervous breakdowns will be had if Hastings isn’t 7 methinks.

Always thought of him as filling a ball playing lock role if not the 14 to take over from Mbye, though will be surprised if he isn't playing in the halves to open the season due to Doueihi's ACL. With Adam not meeting the expectations of many when playing there, I would now be unsurprised if Jackson remains there with Doueihi at centre.

This ideal of him playing lock is fantasy...
He can't tackle and is slower than Twal.

Brooks fan by any chance?

Can you read by any chance (Or you just choose not to)? Let me break it down for you...

Hastings hasn't been bought to the club to play a position he's never played!!
(LOCK)
- Hastings won't be a 13 at this club next year - Or any other club anytime soon.

I hope that's cleared my statement up for you....
Now, Now... Back to your halfback bashing, But keep a keen eye out,
There'll be other posts from time to time outside that narrative...

Lol - you’re bagging a bloke before he has even played a game.
Can I break it down … he can’t tackle?
Never been known to be a poor tackler.
Slower than Twal?
????
Back to your Hastings bashing …

Played 90 odd First Grade games....
NEVER played in the middle...
We'll put him there just for your argument
- See what you like about his tackling then...

I guess the hooker defends on the wing?

Really a downvote?
What part of that question was debatable. And not the sarcasm part.

WTF are you talking about....
This whole text has been about Hastings being bought to the club to play lock (Jersey 13)
I stated simply, more than once (so I thought) That Hastings isn't a lock, hasn't ever played lock, and hasn't been bought to the club to play lock...

It seems everyone is actually arguing my exact point with me...

I’m confused, on one hand your saying he won’t play lock, then further in the conversation your asking if he’d make a good ball playing lock.

Either way, you said he has never played in the middle well half of his ‘47’ fg games he has played as a backup dummy half. He has played in the middle.

You're certainly not on your own, That seems to be happening to everyone...
I got tired of repeating that Hastings isn't coming to the club to play lock...

The latter is sarcasm - If you can't beat them, Join them.

Hastings is coming to the club to become the highest paid KOE Cup player in the comp

Matterson would have to be up there

Can't have both Tamou and woods in the same team.

It feels like people think we only need 2 props in our squad. You need 6 or 7 props in a 30 man squad. The question especislly at 200k a year isnt whether your rather Woods over Mikelle or Twal or Stefano but would you rather Woods over what we git out of Packer or Amone this year or would get next year out of Amone or another NSW cup level prop next year.

My 2c is that when we had props out injured or suspended which you usally do that Woods would be great depth. He is also passionate, experienced and is known for being the first guy at training in the morning doing the extras - I remember John Morris saying he would arrive in the darkness and Woodsy would often be their already when no one else was. That is what a team like ours without enough leaders and without enough expeirence needs as a 6th prop. If he out performs the others and makes our nrl team then they need to work harder

that's the best argument for woods have seen so far. 6th prop

Good point, yes as a replacement for Packer he is definitely an upgrade.

Scott/Elliot on 400k combined is solid business and would make our squad better.

Stefano needs someone up front - love or hate woods but for 1-2yrs max he would take some strain off Stefano. Woods is still NRL level prop. Do I want him, no. But right now we have limited other options. Sure we have Musgrove who we did miss this year but Tamou will keep going backwards and Mika is one of those who always has potential to be something but just can’t seem him cracking it

Yeah great bring in Elliot. Surely he’d be chasing history as the first player to win back to back spoons with different clubs.

Yep i’m all for Elliott joining Tigers , he can add plenty , the bloke is a solid footy player .I believe if Madge wants him onboard then we should be onboard as supporters

Another project player. We've had great success with Joey and co,

I’m gonna propose a theory. Feel free to disagree. But I think the number 1 reason why players like BJ and Roberts failed is out of laziness. I don’t think Elliot is lazy

I agree with you on BJ. I don't believe Roberts is lazy. He lacked opportunity in our backline.

Elliot is not lazy. If it was a one-off occurrence I would be interested. But it is repeated.

I reckon the common factor is alcohol. I stopped drinking some years back because of the things I did when I was drinking, things that didn't always match with the ethics I believe I have. I just reckon, like a proportion of the population that alcohol puts him in places and situations he might avoid if sober.

I'm not preaching at anyone cos I know most people don't have issues with alcohol, and enjoy it, but it seems a lot of stuff Elliott gets involved in, is after a day/night of drinking.

Very Well Done :muscle: @full80 .

Was not looking for support by this post, but thanks a lot to everyone who's offered it. There have been times in the last few seasons where I have felt like a beer, I can tell you!

It's just **so good** to hear some **good news** stories on here for a change @full80, and yours is one of them eh!

Nothing other than age creeping up mate. I regard the good old days as the days of my youth when I had the fitness to do what I wanted and the freedom to do it when I wanted. I've got my freedom back in retirement but the body isn't quite what it once was. I'm still breathing though which counts for something.

Good post, we may need to bite our lip, re:Woods, if no one else is about, as you say, he has the experience we need, hopefully would contribute?

We don’t have a crew of “A” listers knocking on our door? Hopefully getting to the final 8 would help change that, especially with our COE open?

I do not want Woods at any price. Need to set a standard at the Club.

For mine a Mikaele can grow into a prop that would exceed Woods. no need for Woods and Tamou.

Woods leadership is exactly what we dont need at the club at this sensitive time, regardless of who is coach.I wouldnt touch him..
...plus hes not the impact prop we desperately need
Way I see it,weve got Stefano/Musgrave/Twal/Mikaele/Amone who all offer more than Woods, without the white-anting or whatever that Woods cld potentially bring, particularly if hes not making the run on team.Weve had enough of those recently
We need another Impact prop, not a 32yo who back pedals into the defence

Curtis Scott's management reached out to the club last week to gage interest & proposed a similar deal to that of James Roberts, 1st year heavily incentive based deal with an option for a 2nd year in the clubs favour. The club is taking this into serious consideration since Talau's injury.

Adam Elliott will only be entertained as a possible recruit if his value is far less than that of his Dogs contract with certain clauses in place also.
In all both could be recruited & cost a maximum of 350k-400k for the pair of them.

Smart stuff by the club.

Out of everything that has gone on, I think I'm happiest seeing the club not pay overs for just anyone.
