Sorry if this has been answered already. Is there any news on James Roberts? Will the club take up their option in his contract?

We can only hope and pray the common sense prevails and we don't re-sign him to an nrl contract. NSW Cup maybe, but he's been a massive failure. If we take a gamble on a centre it should be Scott who at least still potentially has what it takes.

How is minimum wage a massive failure? I thought he was solid when he played and he certainly has his ability still there. I just wish he had more ball.

The other thing is he seems to be taking Laurie under his wing which is good for us. It helps us attract more indigenous talent.

I honestly would be giving him another year on incentives. Compare him to spending money on someone like Cini.

Some talk on NRL360 of potentially Ciraldo to be head coach. What are people's thoughts? I think it could be a circuit breaker. Pair him with Sheens as a mentor who could add clout to our brand and ability to attract players, and put the right assistant coaches around him (mix of steady older respected guys and other rising younger assistants) and we might start to build a bit of buzz for recruiting.

He could probably jag a couple of key blokes from his Penrith knowledge and links to them, and it might just be enough to get another couple of key potential recruits over the line as well. Once you can start building momentum as a destination club, it can snowball.

Could possibly build instant rapport with our young core as well and bring them on even quicker. Couldn't do worse in terms of our current defensive structures. Could be a corner turner moment.

I can see Ciraldo doing a Ivan Cleary to us. Penrith will want him back when they sack Ivan Cleary at the end of 2022.

Yep same manager as Ivan too.

We simply don't have room for 30 year old average, injury prone outside backs with off-field issues. Simple as that. We only ahve a few squad spots left and most fans will agree we need a real injection of quality to improve our squad. He's not better than what we have, and he won't improve.

He can play nsw cup, fightaway and earn his spot - they're still able to play first grade from nsw cup. Maybe without the spotlight he'd enjoy playing in a more relaxed grade, and might rekindle his passion. If he then earns a promotion ahead of others at the club - awesome. But we can't just sign him out of pity.

Not out of pity at all. Give him decent ball and he is a good player. I would be signing him right now to play wing as he is in the top 2 wingers in the club.

Cmon, that's rubbish. He's only ever played a handful of times on the wing in his life. We chucked him there for the first time since he was a kid. Still got speed and ok finisher, but suspect in defence, under the high ball, and struggles doing dirty hitups.

How do you know he's still a good player if he gets decent ball?

He simply don't have room for him, our squad is full of backup standard players as it is, no room for another one!

Agreed

Key words ‘when he played’

He’s another one for whom winning on Saturdays (his career) is low on the priority list.

I'd say they're about the same overall. Different strengths.

But Noffa is already under contract, so why have 2 noffas? I'd rather gamble on an exciting young winger than fill up our squad with has beens...

Panthers won’t dump Ivan until they’re ready to punt Nathan.

Wanna bet? He'll get next year... That squad will start to dis-assemble and the window will close, If he goes out in straight sets this year he'll be under pressure... If they don't do well next - I certainly wouldn't be betting on him to hold his spot.... Especially if the want for Ciraldo at another club increases - They'll be forced to chose, Ivan will be finishing up a contract - And it won't matter to them....

I’m not sure Ciraldo is as important as you think he is. You think the Panthers will risk losing Nathan Cleary over some assistant coach who is unproven as an NRL coach?

Penrith will keep the core of their players together for the majority of their careers. Crichton, Cleary, To'o, Martin, Luai, JFH, Leota, Leniu, Yeo etc. with players like that you are going to be somewhere near the top for the next few years. I don't see that squad changing drastically anytime soon.

Capewell and Burton are leaving but will be replaced by Martin and Turuva, who is going to be a superstar. they're set. as much as I would love to see Ivan to fail, they will win a premiership in the next 3 years with or without him. that window is open for the next 5 years at absolute minimum.

Everyone pumping up Ciraldo’s tyres. Which basket case club has he ever fixed?

I really don’t like the idea of rookie coach’s , the Titans and the knights have not gone great with there super coach’s from the rooters
