Though on field sims isn't a game breaker he is a solid option alongside off field he can show the young boys what the standard is for nrl.

Id like to get him were not in a place at the moment to be picking and choosing out of the options available im Signing sims , Curtis scott and maybe leeson ah mau

If 650k is an accurate figure he would be getting 220k too much imo.He is not that good

I know all the figures are speculative but comparing Sims on 650 to Smith being offered 600 to stay in Melbourne is what’s wrong with the NRL salary cap.

And yes I think Sims would improve our pack, better than what we have etc.

He should join them....

He doesn't strike me as some one who's going to join the Tigers and turn up for battle.

Shoulda signed their other player... Cameron Mcinnes. When we had the chance.

I wish Wests tigers would a decision on what players they are going to lose and which they will keep. All this conjecture and insecurity is not doing the club any good at all.

What do you mean what players they will keep? They made that clear in the press release last week when they farewelled 5 players.

So, don't they need at least five extra players. Also there is likelihood that Garner may also leave.

I can hack that. Losing Garner for Sims. It isn’t about the money more so the roster spot.
Sims could be an experienced forward to help the club through the next two years allowing Blore and Tulagi time to grow. Also solves the elephant in the room of where you are stuck deciding between Garner and Blore. Both pretty equal in output imo but one is 21 whilst the other is 25-26. So a Sims signing helps Blore and Tulagi out and gives the side an experienced edge, which we know is needed.
The extra spot could be necessary to promote a junior or sign another experienced player on a short term contract.

I think they have 4 spots to fill. Not going to sign anyone until they decide who the coach will be.

Why do you ask that?

A mate said that he is joining the cutters, don’t know if he is taking the piss or what. That’s why I asked the question. I was hoping The Pom or someone in the know had any information about it.

I have never rated him as high as others do and he is now aging so i took 120k of what i would have rated him at 3 years ago.Its only my opinion nothing more

The Wests Tigers could reportedly part ways with second-rower Luke Garner this off-season which could free up money to chase unwanted Dragons star Tariq Sims.

Brent Read reported on Triple M that the Tigers could look to offload Garner before next season, while the club has also been linked with a play for the Blues Origin enforcer.

“There has been some talk around Luke Garner for a couple of years now and he was linked with Manly last year,” Read said on Triple M.


“There has been a bit of a freeze on player movement at the Tigers while they resolve the coaching situation, but Luke Garner’s name has appeared on the radar of some other NRL clubs.

“My sense is he may leave over the off-season and it depends on which club is interested. Manly is a club that has been linked with previously.

“At the moment Manly don’t have the room to fit him in but if Marty Taupau happens to go and Marty has been given permission to explore his options on the open market then maybe that brings Manly into play.

“They have a relationship with Luke Garner. He played under-20s with Tom Trbojevic so he is good friends with Trbojevic and I believe he still lives on the Northern Beaches.

“That is one to watch and it will hinge on the coaching situation at the Tigers and also what happens with Marty Taupau and if he finds another club and if he decides to move in the off-season.”

Read also believes Garner’s potential defection could free up space for the Tigers to chase Sims or former Bulldogs back-rower Adam Elliott.

“I wonder if it also has implications for either Tariq Sims or Adam Elliott,” Read said.

“The Tigers have been linked with both those guys. If they are willing to let Luke Garner go that would suggest that perhaps they think that one of those guys is going to arrive.

“So maybe that is a hint for a potential destination for Sims or Elliott.”
