Madge has made no secret about the fact he wants an experienced big bopper in his forward pack.
Interesting how this plays out but I’d say one of the below
Thompson or Paulo for an expensive mid term option.
Or
Leniu for a cheaper long term option.
Or
Taupau for a cheaper short term option.

Would be happy with Paulo or Lenui, satisfied with Tapau annoyed with Thompson

Taupau also past his use by date - didn't want us once, time to return the favour.

I think Hodgson would be good for our pack - he is a strong leader on the field as well as a real "competitor" - definitely ticks those boxes. Just hope there's still a couple of seasons left in his body.

I think the question we need to ask is was Hodgson on the slibe because he was stale at Canberra under Ricky or are the knee issues beginning to bring him back the pack .......

David Riccio said on Vossy that WT and Raiders in running for Billy Magoulias

Is that the entire offseason talk? Tigers and Raiders in the running for the scraps...

Would've taken Woods over Magoulias .....

2 knees recos in the last 3 years. Odds are pretty good that his time has past him by.

Football wise hodgo is a good buy I don't know why everyone is saying he's past it hes gone when some were calling for us to sign benji a few weeks back hodge can provide off field aswell leading the boys more than tamou has been and will spend more time on the field and if he gets injured jake will come up and play hook

Liddle on his best day is hodgson on his worst I appreciate liddles passion for the joint but hes a liability and blames other players for his decisions

God of state cup Billy Magoulias 🔥

Hodgson is cooked sadly...lacks lateral movement in defence, and is easily exploited, plus cant dart out of dummy half
Cameron Smith at 40 wld provide better impact

So you’re telling me Canterbury are gonna send off one of their very few starting props to get Liddle so they can have a trifecta of average and unproven dummy half’s ? Do not buy that at the slightest.

Exactly mate. Gould won’t let that happen, he’s too smart for that

we have made an offer for hodgsons services from next year for 2 years
liddle has been offered to the dogs for thompson and cash their way

Two good additions and an average player going the other way 🔥

If Hodgson signed with somebody else people would be talking up how good he is and use it as proof that we can't attract such players.

If we sign him and the absolute worst case scenario happened, that he was completely cooked and couldn't take the field, well Simpkin will be another year older and he would have to step up, so it's not like we don't have options. More likely, Hodgson would provide better and smarter service than Liddle did this year, while giving Simpkin further time to develop.

Too bad it won’t happen.

Well lets put it this way ...if I was thinking of offering him a contract ...he would be doing the strictest and most testing physical before hand he has ever faced ...

We pay our recruitment folks big $$ to make informed fact -based decisions..plus a little dash of emotion when it comes to leadership, which is unquestionable in Hodgsons case
But his numbers, similiar to Liddles for this year ,say it all as Liddle isnt exactly a superstar
And Ricky playing Starling as his first choice at the raiders in their pursuit of a top 8 position, makes another statement
Hodgson is exactly what we needed 2 years ago when he was injury free,...but at this stage hed make Tamou look pretty good I suspect
The elusive pursuit of desperately needed"leadership"..which I thinbk Douhi and Hastings will make a good dent into in 2022

Hodgson,Peachey,Hastings and one of ( Thompson,Leniu,or Tapau) is a successful recruitment drive, still need a 2nd rower but not much available, if Jet stays I would start him on the wing over Nofa next year.

Heilum Luki's contract situation is still up in the air, he may well still be available. if we nab him I'd be inclined to let Garner go.

Our most rigorous testing involves questions like " are you ok" & "how's the knee"
After that, good to sign on
