Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Well he needs to bring home the bacon for his brother now doesn’t he. LL is a good player and has some good skills. Truth be told, he could be brought off the bench. But no way is he worth $700k a season, and no way is he getting 4 years. I would rather let him go immediately and we buy a genuine enforcer.

I agree. He’s a great player running the ball terrible defensively. You can’t pay top dollar for a one dimensional player. Someone will though Tigers need to swap him out this year. I really like Luch but Tigers have to be wise.

The Hodgson vs Api situation is very interesting. I am not saying this will happen I actually think it will fall through (knowing the tigers). But looking in as a fan Hodgson is definitely the better option long term if we can get rid of Liddle. Simpkin is a class hooker and has proved this in KOE and first grade. Our problem is and has been for a while is an 80 minute hooker. For me wasting a bench spot on a hooker or utility is silly especially for a team like the tigers. It needs to be 4 big men. I think Simpkin does need to be phased into 80 minutes but Hodgson is perfect for the whole team.
Hodgson is a leader and has the British connection with Hastings, Gildart and Sheens. Which you would think would tempt him to come. Only flaw for me is that he is injury prone but that is easily fixed. IE: Hastings, Simpkin and I would like to see Dockar-clay in the top 30.

In conclusion, in the long run and for the team you would think Hodgson is the wiser choice. With Simpkin at 14 to add attacking flare. But we will see how the meat head of Pascoe sorts this us.

The Api thing is not happening.

As it stands, Liddle is streets ahead of Simpkin…
How anyone sees it does different is beyond me.
Simpkin may have more upside in the long run, I’ll think you might find Liddle does as well.
If Liddle and Madge don’t work - that may be a separate issue…
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Liddle end up at the chooks… he has time with the ball, he’s a bit underdone - and has some work to do… but you can’t buy time…

With the way the games going hooker is no longer an 80min position...best to go with two big bopper/an edge middle hybrid and a utility to play 9.

How can people still not understand the hooker situation we need a leader who is an experienced head to take pressure off our halves kicking from dummy half helps that

Hodgson Tamou

Every aspect.

Still some blatant holes in the roster though.

My 1 legged grandma > tamou.
And she died 20yrs ago....

The pom said this morning we are putting an increase and extension to Lucy - but not as big as reported.

Personally I'd have him coming off the bench for impact and pushing him in presenting to work on his defence. There's lots to improve before asking for increase

He's not that good. Need a hard runner and a hard defender. He is neither.
Wouldn't pay a cent over $450k.
If he wants more, then @hobbo1 can punt him

Liddle is a Hooker who can't pass accurately and has no kicking game. He's pretty limited and one dimensional. What's worse for him is he lacks the cardiovascular capacity to play a full game

We have any gun fb's in lower grades?

Logen Dillon aka Papz 2.0

Rate him, hey?

He could be something special if the club invests in him ?

Few other lads in the same boat.

Can only go so far if given the opportunity.

Logen Dillon is highly rated by the club, Expecting him to be on a development deal for 2022.

Anything on ogden

Another Hartigan short fall, like Jordan Hill never followed up with scheduled meeting, not lost yet but I doubt he's staying around.

It’s really looking like Hartigan had dropped the ball a lot, for someone who was supposedly a gun at his job? Can see why he was tapped.

Roosters never lose someone they want a keep should always ring in all of our ears .....

Roger Tuivasa Sheck
Latrell
Isaac Liu
James Maloney

All replaced with better players .....

NOPE

And that's not what you said, you said they never lose someone they want to keep. Of course they do. They just don't do it as often as some others.

Well ...if Tedesco isn't better than RTS for starters.....

Keary not better than Maloney .....

A 575k extension is only 125k below the ridiculous price floating around the media. Still far too expensive for my blood and would still be a disappointing move. Especially since he's one of the few players we've given a chance and actually improved under us. I get his managers doing his job but to feel entitled to a massive pay bump after a season where you underperformed is pretty poor form.

Luch is barely a starter. No other club will pay close to 700 a year for him.

The fact he is seeking that from the WT shows he has little affiliation for club and is purely motivated by money….not fussed if he leaves….hope the club doesn’t bow to his demands

He's up for renewal isn't he? This is the same game that Nofo played and did well out of it?

And Simpkin is worse, I don’t know where you get the idea that he is our saviour he is a couple of years away thanks to Covid

I am baffled that people think that Simpkin is a class player that proved himself in NRL. I must have missed those moments.. Currently Liddle is an overall better rugby league player than Simpkin. In saying that though I would welcome Hodgson as he is next level.

possibility that hodgo is coming to play hooker and lock (or even just lock?)
liddle/simpkins off the bench to fill the hooking gap (or continue to share the game)
peachey in centres or off the bench as a utility?
