Well he was pretty incompetent letting so many juniors go. Like, how can you not return calls and not turn up to meetings when that is the bread and butter of your role? There was a rumour floating around a month or two ago that Pascoe was doing this. Maybe the wires were crossed and it was Hartigan.

1/ Why did we sign him in the 1st place
2/ Why did we keep him as long as we did

Or is this club telling porkies so Sheens can get HIS way with HIS recruitment team

And either way it's another clustermess ...thanks to the leadership of the WT's

Because if bringing Sheens back fails ......we are really screwed ...everyone realizes that ....don't they ???

Signing people who are incompetent isn’t unusual for us Hap. When you are an inept organisation, it can be hard to attract quality. The only guy that seemingly had a clue over the last few years up and left and won himself a premiership.

The Hodgson vs Api situation is very interesting. I am not saying this will happen I actually think it will fall through (knowing the tigers). But looking in as a fan Hodgson is definitely the better option long term if we can get rid of Liddle. Simpkin is a class hooker and has proved this in KOE and first grade. Our problem is and has been for a while is an 80 minute hooker. For me wasting a bench spot on a hooker or utility is silly especially for a team like the tigers. It needs to be 4 big men. I think Simpkin does need to be phased into 80 minutes but Hodgson is perfect for the whole team.
Hodgson is a leader and has the British connection with Hastings, Gildart and Sheens. Which you would think would tempt him to come. Only flaw for me is that he is injury prone but that is easily fixed. IE: Hastings, Simpkin and I would like to see Dockar-clay in the top 30.

In conclusion, in the long run and for the team you would think Hodgson is the wiser choice. With Simpkin at 14 to add attacking flare. But we will see how the meat head of Pascoe sorts this us.

As it stands, Liddle is streets ahead of Simpkin…
How anyone sees it does different is beyond me.
Simpkin may have more upside in the long run, I’ll think you might find Liddle does as well.
If Liddle and Madge don’t work - that may be a separate issue…
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Liddle end up at the chooks… he has time with the ball, he’s a bit underdone - and has some work to do… but you can’t buy time…

Liddle is a Hooker who can't pass accurately and has no kicking game. He's pretty limited and one dimensional. What's worse for him is he lacks the cardiovascular capacity to play a full game

Can't believe there were 3 ppl who downvoted this. I feel you've stated complete truth.

Liddle is developing a fan base much like Brooks... except Brooks fans bailed, I believe.

People are even starting to make rubbish excuses for Liddle.... "oh he fatigues that's why he struggles" for a start he's a professional player that's played over 50 games, he shouldn't be getting tired after 20 mins as a dummy half. Different if he's a prop

Secondly he can't pass! No matter what time of the game he manages to throw a pass at Brooks ankles or over Doueihis head.

Not saying he's completely rubbish and should be punted but it's pretty clear we need a lot more direction at hooker and if you're choosing one of Liddle or Simpkin to put time into and develop, you always choose Simpkin.

There's no harm in keeping both our current hookers AND signing Hodgson either

I vote to punt Simpkin - can't play 80, stands too much with hands on hips, ball hog.....Bye!

Weird seem to remember Simpkin playing close to the full 80 in one of his very first games against the Rabbitohs. Holding his own against the Rabbits middle and being solid enough for us to go into golden point showed his potential.
It's easy to forget how young he is and how difficult it'd be to replicate that form consistently so early in his career, he couldn't handle it for long if i remember right. Yet the only way for us to get him to that next level is game time in first grade and allowing his body to develop.

PVL and his additions has been a hard watch, so it's not just the club, the game as a whole.
Hard to get excited for.

I started to get hopeful recently with all the talks of pathways and a strong focus on juniors and then 3 of the names I've been following closely have walked out the door.

All very disheartening.

My Mrs asks why can't we support a decent team ? I tell her, our time will come....

Some positive moves lately it seems so hopefully some results eventuate soon..

It’s more likely that the club is culturally sick and did not know how to manage him or extract his skill long term. Shane Millard also left and joined Bulldogs as coach of pathways development.

It's a bit hard to cop with the club continuously banging on about youth development and junior pathways though - only to find out that several of the highly regarded younger guys are joining the ranks of 'disgruntled players who leave', seemingly because the people responsible couldn't be trusted to run a bath.

First choice obviously but as we saw at the end of last year when he went down.. we struggled to replace him.. Mbye is gone..

Dillion while having potential is very young with zero games NRL experience..

Cini or Nofoaluma after that doesn't scream excitement to me.. Maybe Hastings as he has played there for Wigan..

It's a crucial position..

I think it can be hard to plan for an out and out fullback to be a backup, with the best bet being someone who can play a role if your no. 1 goes down.

The best backups in the league may well be Crichton and Manu, both of which are centres who can play fb, rather than fbs themselves.

So, on that logic, I think AJ, Nofo, or even AD could fill a role if needs be. Remembering that this, by nature, is a backup plan.

From memory, AJ played some fb in Flegg and for Norths.

AD was too slow at fullback and AJ had trouble catching a football. Not good measures for a fullback. Maybe put Nofo at fullback if the club is desperate enough.(or sign a good centre/fullback).

We seem to be missing the point that a backup fullback is a stop-gap solution. If they were the refined product, they would be specialist fullbacks.

I'm not saying that these boys don't have negatives to their game, but they are all serviceable options if required. Point being, it's not as if, with the current squad, that Tamou needs to be thrown in there out of desperation.

Long term, he may be, but as of now, Simpkin isn’t a better player than Liddle, so why would Jacob think he’ll be the odd man out.

Maybe the rumours of Liddle not rating Madge could have something to do with it?

Either this club or this forum has a habit of bad mouthing those who leave us. Many deserved it too but we really have to look inward. We've had a few messy break ups:

Teddy, Moses, Woods, Cleary, Matterson, Aloiai, JAC just to name a few. Then there is the back office staff in Millard, JT, Hartigan. You really have to look inward.

We fans don't know anything tbh.. so on supporter forums like these we will say a lot of bad stuff about people who are no longer with the organisation. But I really hope that those in-charge are a lot more introspective than we are.

The Pom came here and said a couple of bad things about Hartigan and all of a sudden, he's a villain on here. But his failures are the club's failures.

In regards to what the club feeds us, do you think the Pom is told what bits of info to pass on by the club?
