They’d only be desperate if they have already signed off on Peace's release. What could happen is neither club being prepared to budge. The Knights not prepared to release Pearce until they know they have Brooks, and Wests wanting the Knights to pay as much freight as possible.

Unless we’re planning to pull a Cleary or Reynolds out of our backsides it does nothing for us to deplete our halves stocks even more. The upside is we’ll have even more space in the cap that we can’t fill.

For a club that has not made the finals for 10 years we seem to keep getting sponsors but cannot get a quality signing to save itself.... Maybe we need to Corporate team to take over the player recruitment area :face_with_rolling_eyes:

Weren’t they a sponsor in the mid 2000’s? I can almost swear that they were. Either them or a business with a very similar name.

Good on him people seem to care about the club who are involved. We just need people that can run a rugby league club in key positions.

So we have 2 board members (that we know of)
doubling as club sponsors...
I'm not going to debate their contribution to running the Football Club, No one not in that room should be doing that....
But I wouldn't have to look real hard to find something or someone that says we're poorly run - And have been for years...

If it was my club - My board wouldn't have Lawyers and Real Estate Agents on it... Let alone having them double dipping as a major sponsor.

Tbh, Zach Docker-Clay would be a better option than Madden atm. Brooks/Hastings is far from perfect, but it’s the best shot we have.

The common belief (which I don't necessarily disagree with) is WT's culture is rotten and once players (and coaches) get out of that system they improve. Benji into a Grand Final, Teddy becoming the best player in the game, Paps suddenly not being so injury prone.

Brooks has managed to play 150 games in that system and I'm sure Joey will think he can get him to what he promised as a junior.

Maybe they won't want to pay his full freight, then we hang onto him.

Point one obviously they don’t think he’s bad. Point 2 sure they will try and get us to carry a bit but as a replacement for Pearce and his money that doesn’t matter as much. Who said they were giving us an origin player? They will just take him and 90% of his wage

It's more likely they'd take the 600k freed up from Pearce and use that and Tigers to pay the balance. Or alternatively a financial like for like swap such as a Friz or Klem given their wages are roughly the same as Brooks.

I don’t see it happening. We are already way under the cap and letting Brooks go to clear another 500-600k is going to put us in a worse position because there are no top line players available to spend the money on.

We’ll end up being the first club fined for not spending enough money!
