This comes as it has also emerged that young Sydney Roosters playmaker Lachlan Lam’s name has been thrown up as a potential player trade option to head to the Wests Tigers so Luke Brooks could in turn move to Newcastle.

It is understood the Roosters have been discreetly looking at options for Lam who will struggle to make Trent Robinson’s top squad next year given Luke Keary’s return from injury to partner young Sam Walker.

I find this hard to believe.
Roosters would look pretty skinny in the halves if they copped an early injury.
They’ve got Walker, Keary, Hutchinson and Volkman coming through ... have I forgotten someone?

Adam Keighran. Plus have the option of Manu to 6 if they had a plethora of halves injured.

The only way I can see Brooks going to Newcastle is for the Knights to cover the cost of his contract for the next two years there is no way WT'S should cover any of his contract at the KNIGHTS they want him they pay for him especially as WT'S are apparently not trying to off load him.

Would be happy to sign Lam, but not as a Brooks replacement.

We are lacking depth in that halves already, Lam can take Billy Walter's spot in the squad.

He's nice depth to have but he's no starter.

If the Roosters are looking "discreetly" to move him on, a decision has been made he is not good enough for their NRL team. If so, why is he good enough for WTs when we have a far better half under contract? Let the Knights have Lam. He will be more than good enough for that team when Ponga leaves for the Dolphins.

Lamb over Brooks - Really??

Lamb doesn't even shine in a top 4 side - and is only 3 years behind Brooks...
I see absolutely NO upside to that....

Hutchison is the pick of the back up halves over there - And (surprise, surprise) He's not the one the Roosters are trying to unload.

The upside is getting rid of Brooks and his horrendous contract, time for a fresh start. It's not about a direct comparison (not that Brooks has played much better than him) it's about getting rid of a bad contract of a player who isn't working for us and making sure we have depth in the halves

Lam would 100% be a fill in until Doueihi is back

Lam is nowhere near Brooks quality. If Knights want him they can give us Bradman Best plus pay Brooks contract and we need a short term half or five eight well above Lams quality

And they have Adam Keighran as well who is a half. They only played him in the centres this year out of desperation through injury. Do you really need any more then 4 halves ?

People need to understand that Hastings is the bloke who would replace Brooks, not Lam. Lam would be relaxing Billy Walters as depth, Peachey replaces Mbye, Doueihi as 6 still. That's actually pretty decent business

Connor Watson is there too. They've got plenty of halves

So we’re going to strengthen another clubs halves and, all the while leaving us with the worst halves in the comp. great going.

Daley was better than good.

Daley, Kenny & Fittler all great 6's

Benji too

I'd rate Marshall at least a good light-year-and-a-half behind those other three.

Its a different game now - it is almost impossible to compare players from different eras. In my view with Beni with his skills, ***back then he would have been the GOAT***. In 10-15 years from now his skills will have been surpassed

You just can't make comparisons from different times

Actually I think "back then" Benji would have been smashed out of the game. I dont think many <90kg touch footy players lasted in the game no matter their skill level. As you say, different times.

Actually Kenny was 84kg, Johns was 89kg and Fittler was 95kg

I know poor old Kenny has been ill but is there any chance he can strap on the boots to come to WTs so Brooks can go to the Knights because Andrew Johns said he needs a change and wants to coach him? It's got nothing to do with the Knights being desperate in the intention to release Pearce.

We know how you feel about him Paws but he quite simply isn't working for us anymore mate. The club can't continually put their hopes into him year after year without success.

I think he'll stay anyway

The article also mentioned that we put Hodgson through a physical last week. Confirms there is still interest even though we hadn’t heard much for a while.
