I know some people find it hard to be optimistic at the moment re Wests Tigers immediate prospects, (I'm one of them also finding it hard,) but if we can get Hodgson and Papali'i, then that will definitely make me feel a lot more optimistic.

And Cotric, idk, Dogs have him on about $600k (according to Zero Tackle) for the next 2 years, they'd have to throw in at least $150k in both years for us to consider him.

Anyone at all nervous about Papalli?

He had a great year but I mean can you really judge off that?

Papali'i had a career year, but before that he was the hottest union prospect in NZ. He was one of those players who was well known before he'd even left high school. He was signed up by the Warriors and was going nowhere, as per usual for talented Auckland-raised Warriors players.

I would say his 2021 is more in-line with his pedigree than an outlier. I would expect him to perform as well, if not better, than he did in 2021. He's only 23.

Looks like we have recruited well from QLD with the focus on pathways

The Wests Tigers have six of the best – Queensland schoolboys merit prop Herman Tofaeono (Keebra Park SHS), 2021 joint Justin Hodges medallist Chris Faatugu (Marsden SHS), outstanding Wavell No. 13 Junior Taungatua (Wavell SHS), middle forward Mou Taumaletila (Marsden SHS) and utility Kienan Tempest (Marsden SHS) who is a David Stagg clone.

Throw in brilliant Kirwan SHS outside back talent Dudley Dotoi from Far North Queensland and you have a bag full of good kids headed to the Wests Tigers.

This is where we have recruited well - in juniors. I believe within the next 3 years, we will become a consistent top 4 club because we are building the club the right way.

Yeah but the danger lies in being able to retain them when they hit First Grade. I think we need to be doing at least average (7th to 9th) in First grade when they hit otherwise the chances of losing them is increased to probably.

All well and good to sign them, you then need to create a learning environment. Our toxic club is no place for young players atm.

My hopes are on Sheens to create a non-toxic happy environment. It won't be Maguire.

I think you only get toxic environments when it’s all not gelling. Everyone is under pressure, winning fixes that?

He was strong for the Warriors as well, had some off field stuff and some minor injuries that slowed him down but he always looked a good player. I wouldn't have guessed he'd be 2nd rower of the year last year, but I was very surprised he wasn't more sought after when the Eels paid what they paid. Can't see him regressing much assuming he stays healthy.

The Wests Tigers have requested to meet Papali’i and are willing to pay $600,000 a year to lure him from Parramatta after a breakout first season. (SMH)


That would be a far better result than chasing Long John Silver from Canberra.

If you are one of our halves and have Papali'l standing inside of you, it would certainly add some confidence.

Papali would be for 2023 no way parra let him go wouldn't get too excited

Elvis has a better chance of re-appearing. He’s only on 200k, they’re not gonna find better value than that anywhere in the competition. Would be a shot in the arm for us if we could snare him.

He could just go in with an ipad and a list of reasons why he doesn't want to be there... Claim mental issues / sick leave until they release him....

I just hope if the Tigers have caught a big fish that they get it out there ASAP to settle everyone down and we can all move forward... Everyones on the edge at the moment :grin:

Bangf05 how do we win with a reserve grade roster, in the last 2 origin series Mbye and JOFFA played a combined 55 minutes, 6 games over 2 years, we have such marque talent don't we?
You are right when you say WOE is US

Big Stef will play Origin next year and in 12 months will be the best prop in the game. We need to build around him. Might take a season or two.
