I think we’d get him to play on the edge. Handy back up for the middle but I’d like to play him on a edge

Will be announced soon. The meeting was today and he's willing to come, happy with the offer and only wants to talk to family before he signs.

Having been there only 1 year, He and his family will have no emotional connection with the Eels, so I don’t see his family talking him out of the deal to join us….unless he is fibbing to us

I can’t see there being too much to the conversation. He’s probably just telling them the money being offered.

Even if he is, Parra are bursting at the seams. Someone’s gonna have to go, and it probably won’t be Gutho or Mahoney.

And he might if he wasn’t trying to squeeze in 4 or 5 other players. Doubt he’d risk letting the captain go just to get one over on us.

I think Simpkin will be fine, he knows he needs more development time.

I think Hodgson signing would be an indication that Simpkin sees a lot of KOE in 2022. He’s only 20. He’s probably a year or two away from being a regular first grader. There’s no reason to rush him.

I agree, I think the reason Grant hit the ground running his he spent plenty of time in the lower grades learning his trade. Simpkin spending the year in KOE next year would be hugely beneficial.

Starts 2023 as a 21 year old. Even then he’s still a baby.

Grant is 12 months older…..

Grant: DOB: 17.02.1998 (23)
Simpkin: DOB: 16.10.2001 (20)

Age gap is more than 3 and a half years.

If he’s on 600K a year and its 3 years from 2023 wouldn’t it be 1.8 million?

I am only talking about the next 3 years as not sure how long our offer is for.. We would need to go 3 or 4 years to get him over the line or he could back himself and take 2 years and get a even higher salary come 2024...

Actually I think they were going to increase him to 300k for 22, and originally offered 425 for 23 and 24, potentially increased their offer by 50k for the future seasons. Maybe 1.1-1.2 million overall

We are apparently offering 600-650k for 23,24 and 2025. Potentially similar money if he can get out early. That's 1.9-2.5 million. Basically doubling their offer.
