I admire all the hard work put in by the recruitment team to improve the roster. As I have stated ad nauseum, all this will not make one iota of difference until Maguire is challenged to change his five hit ups and a bomb gameplan. Let's see the powers to be shake up the way we play as well.

To put in perspective how bad a signing Hodgson would have been, even a 3 year contract for Api, he’d be the same age Hodgson is now at the end of it.

Surely the plan is Api for 22, 23, 24.

Would be a hard sell considering the Panthers are yet again a premiership threat. They would have no desire to weaken themselves downgrading from their premiership hooker to a Kenny, Liddle, etc...

Listen Liddle is a superstar and just what a team like Panthers need, a hooker who can punch out a quality 20 mins and pass poorly


Yet Liddle is still a better player than Simpkin who suffers from white line fever as well as everything else you criticise Liddle for

Time will help Simpkin, obvious Sheens doesn't rate Liddle as highly as other did as they keep having cracks at Hodgo now Api desperate for a quality 9


Back again I see Jedi, with the slipper! Classy. Look I do agree that api is a quality hooker and is a better hooker than liddle at this point in his career. But he turns 30 next year and spent a big portion of last season injured. If u were smart, u would have to ask why the panthers don’t want him next season???
So we sign him on a 3 year deal starting in 23, so 34-35 years old in his last season with us, a bit of a risk. 3 years is ok if it starts next season.
Maybe we should start a thread of people’s hatred for brooks, Nofa and liddle, so Jedi and others don’t have to travel to far to get their kicks??

He turns 30 next November so will turn 33 at the conclusion of the 25 season.

You could even give him a 3 year contract beginning in ‘23. If you are prepared to give a 2 year one to Hodgson (even 3 years was flirted) I see no reason not to give Api 3. 3 years for a 30 year old opposed to 2 for a 32 year old.

His game plan is simple and will only work if ALL the players buy in. That didnt happen last year and the coach was struggling to cover all aspect of his job. The club has now placed better people around him and reduced his role to ease the pressure on him.

Only good things to come from Maguire this season. Sheens wont cop players not buying in and Maguire now has support and depth to remove those from the weekly team.

This signing would be perfect to keep him. An experienced dummy half to ease him into grade and in 3 years it’s his team. I think It works well for all

I'd suggest it is salary cap related and while your opinion is noted, the club must have a different view.

It is interesting that someone had to be brought in over the top of Maguire to effect attitudinal change. That says it all really.
