Dogs 100% need at minimum Thommo gone at close to full freight to even consider Paulo. Asiata was only on minimal wage somewhere around the 120k mark from most reports. Even with his wage and possibly freeing up most of Cotric's (lets be honest no one is taking on cotric at full freight) that wont be enough for Paulo.

Yep, exactly my thoughts too. Cotric and Thompson are good players, but the world won't end if they go elsewhere. Screw the dogs and the cap mess they're in. Its our terms or we walk and wait for something else to come along.

Quality players are not easy for the Wests Tigers to come by, you need to take a reasonable opportunity when presented, whether this is the case I don't know. Either way, adding more actual first graders to the roster only improves your recruitment drive later on.

Currently their 2023 cap has 400k remaining with about 7 players yet to sign. SO they're already over the cap. The only way they get under is by offloading big money players, paying as little as possible and replacing them with much cheaper ones. No one wants their expensive players at the price they're happy to pay so they're blocked there.

If they offload Thompson who's on 850k, and pay 250k (they only want to pay 100) that frees up 600, to get Paulo they'd have to offer at least 800k so in total they'd be paying 1.05 million for one player. And still be incapable of filling out their squad with minimum wage players. To be cap compliant they need to offload both cotric and thompson and replace them with players on 200-300k.

Those figures only work if they are under or on the cap amount and by all reports they are nowhere near it and need to shed players to become cap compliant for 2023. You would have to know how much they have to lose to get under the cap for 2023 before you even factor in paying 700k to Paulo.

They have not enough cap space and 9 spots left on the 2023 roster. players will be cut and or shopped. Gus stated 5 signed on minimum wage (80K each - $400K) so they have 100K to sign 4 players.... not happening they need at least a half a mil extra, but then this is minimum wage and your squad looks very top heavy and you need to have an injury free season or these kids will play.

I like the idea of letting the Dogs stew in the mess they have created, but you need the other 16 teams in the market place to do the same, and that will never happen. So the club has to take the advantage they have over most clubs…and that is cap space.

Okay things look to be on the up especially 2023, but to be fair dinkum 2022 looks pretty average and Cotric and Thompson would help…even if we had to spend a tad more than we hoped

Exactly Bulldogs are currently in a mess they would need to offload both Cotric and Thompson to at least get their cap back into ok shape but even then they really can’t make a big big signing they might get Paulo but depending how much they sign him for its just gonna damage their cap again

Cotric and Thompson would be a big help for 2022 but we shouldn’t break the bank either Dogs have to chip in at least a decent amount if they want them gone
