So I tend to agree here, it's semantics in one way, but important in another, in that, the word 'elite' I think is a better description of these types of players we're talking about. No - I think 3/4 in different positions of the side certainly suffice.
Not all of them are considered 'Superstars' some are just super consistent players of a high level.
Even Teams like Manly (Who didn't finish much better than us this year) have Turbos x 2, DCE...
Knights have Ponga, 2x Saifitis, Gagai amongst others....
Blokes like Tupou from the Roosters isn't a superstar - But heads and shoulders above our wingers...
Elite players aren't always superstars, And you don't need a team of them to be competitive....
We had 0 - Eels had 5 or more and we beat them this year.
Been saying for years, With the squad we have - We've been over achieving in previous years...
(Bar this one obviously)
e.g.
A superstar would be a Turbo
An elite would be a Tupou, Radley, Papali'i
and a decent, maybe a regular starter - Max King, Sivo, Riki
Just random examples. On this logic, I agree again, that 3/4 of these would go a long way to challenging for the 8. I think SeanT's first comment was a gross exaggeration and that we're closer to the 8, at least squad-wise than people may think.
