Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I’d rather Roosters style recruitment over panthers any day of the week. #sombrero

The Tigers had there chance to get Jamie Matthiou when he walked out on the Gold Coast before returning to the Roosters, the Tigers should sign a very close friend of his who is a great judge of a footballer & ironically Ivan Cleary's brother in-law Josh Stuart.

Being impatient and rushing out to sign a player to replace those we have or will release this year is why we are here today
Eg
Tui
Rochow
McQueen and others
If we sign players just because they are available now we will end up in the same predicament next year

It is hard
We all know that
But waiting and making a play for class players is really in our best interest and that's what we all want
Class signings
Not could be's or Maybe's
Look at Newcastle
They landed Pierce
Who would have thought
As clubs struggle with the salary cap
We have an opportunity to pounce

It’s not like the Knights got Pierce on a good deal though. They paid overs, just like we are going to have to do for those players. That’s clearly one of our strategies and the other, looking for diamonds in the rough, landed guys like Rochow and Tui. Until our TPA game lifts it’s our best shot. The other strategy is to develop successful junior players and something I think Ivan will successfully do.

Agreed
Just dont want to buy ordinary players
After Robbie and Benji helped us win today I am beginning to think that we should resign them on a small $ contract
If they truly love the club the amount of money they receive should not matter
They played well today
Happy to admit that I didn't think that they had it in them
If they sign on a minimum contract then we have plenty of experience will still having money for top line players

Although today was a great win we cant forget that a number of Dragons players backed up from origin
We were still good enough to win
WOOOO WHOOOO

I agree with most of what u said except the word small contract.

Im starting to realise as a fan i have to see things from the players view aswell.

Why should farah and Marshall in key positions go on a small contract or deserve one. The same club that turfed them and failed to replace them.

They deserve a decent contract if go on for 1 more year.

The Tigers should offer them both what they think are fair contracts for a good backup half and a good backup hooker. If there's more money on offer elsewhere they're welcome to take that, but I sincerely doubt there's going to be a bidding war.

Wests Tigers have 8 players off contract for 2018 including Benji & Robbie below is a list of 12 players from other clubs that may add value to our roster.
Jamaye Isako Broncos
Michael Oldfield Raiders
Corey Oates Broncos
Tevita Pangai Jr Broncos
Jaydn Sua Broncos
Rhyse Martin Bulldogs
Keegan Hipgrave Titians
Shaun Lane Manly
Jack Hetherington Penrith
James Segeyaro Conulla
Apisai Koroisau Manly
Issac Luke Warriors
Broncos would be most vulnerable due to the number of young talented players coming through apparently the best crop ever the remaining players would be good pick ups.

Hetherington would be a real good pick up

The Roosters cap is quite admirable if you look at it in a positive light…

And from what I’ve heard from a solid source they aren’t stopping anytime soon as they’re keen on Coote

Why would they be keen on Coote when they have Tedesco!?

Why would Coote fathom this idea?

Idk mate this is just what I was told

Maybe because I was told as parra are keen on Keary they turn Coote into a running 5/8 that’s the only way I can think about it

I can't see them signing elsewhere and we will pay them good money to do what they love at the club they love. A small contract works for us and them.

If they sign everyone they have to win the premiership

So good to see the Roosters replace a rep player with another one.. They will maintain the 15+ rep players :brick:

Why don't we have a shot at Wakins for the Rhinos? He is a representative center.

Signed with the Rhinos until 2021, as much as he would be valuable to us, I doubt he'll ever leave England.

The Dogs are going to struggle to retain Martin due to their cap. Considering we’re skinnier than Kate Moss in the backrow you would think our interest would be a no brainer.

For Sure
- Second Rower after a breakout season
- Can goalkick

See my other thread. We don’t need a goal kicker
