Why do people continually say that Benji will attract players to the WT's

He couldn't attract players when he was playing ...why would he attract players as a coach ...not as if he could coach the good things he did as a player ...it was too instinctive ...and half the things he did as a player you wouldn't want to be coached

Different needs as a player to a coach. But I'm not convinced.
Time will tell if he can lure players into his vision & style of footy he wants to play.

As a coach his career actually hangs in the balance of the quality of his squad especially as a rookie coach which will be a big part of his ability to deliver results otherwise he is punted.

In 3-5yrs times most of the kids entering NRL wouldn't have seen Benji play in his prime so it will come down to how he sells the club for them to want to play for him.

He has cash & roster spots to go hunting - it will be interesting the squad he builds.

Just to add to these points there is some bigger news.

Apparently Superman is coming to play for us at halfback.

If it's Henry Cavill my wife will be watching EVERY Wests Tigers very closely especially the locker room coverage.

Why would we sign RTS. We've just signed Charlie Staines for better or worse and he will most likely play fullback.

Only reason we would sign Calen is if Nofa or Ken are leaving.

We signed Staines for only one year (2023). RTS would not be playing for WT until 2024.

I'd sign RTS in a heartbeat, but we didn't. We signed Charlie Staines.

I doubt Daine or Charlie are keen on playing in Cup. I call BS on this rumour.

Updates from a guy who is in the know.

1. The club is going hard for David Fifita and we are in the box seat to get him.
2. Caleb Clarke is talking to the club. He wants a change from rugby and it's just about money at this point. Hopefully a deal will be done for next year.
3. The Roosters have dropped out of the race to secure RTS. The club have put in a good deal to get him here and hopefully this deal will happen.

I think these 3 guys would add a fair bit to our team.

RTS isn't available in 23, he has said he won't be leaving his current deal early.
So signing Staines for 1yr makes sense.

Yeah, it's called performance. If they play well, they'll get upgraded or find a better contract in 2024.

Winger for the All Blacks mate, so could probably play him centre/wing in the NRL, but when he runs its to run over and through people, damaging !

he's a beast when running the ball back .. would be very VERY hard to stop 10m out from the line on the wing ..

That's just not true. He did attract players when he was playing. Numerous players when they signed were quoted as saying Benji was one of the reasons they were attracted to the club.

Whether or not he can do it as a coach remains to be seen.
