Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Lam is the most selfish footballer. He can play but if Adrian isn’t coaching, good luck to any coach getting him to follow a plan. He has been like that all the way through his career. He got dropped once in SG Ball for not following the game plan. Adrian turned up the following training and had a few words with the coach and officials. Funnily enough the following season Adrian was the SG ball coach. We don’t need self entitled brats here.
Something similar happened with Brooks.

Kimmorley was going to drop him then @Jedi_Tiger turned up at training and gave him a spray, said something about 2018 halfback of the year... safe to say, Brooks played that weekend.

Thanks for the insight as I think he is a half decent half but understand what you are saying.....guess we wont be getting Flanagan as coach then hahaha or any coach that has a son playing in the NRL.

The salary cap needs to be based on an open bidding process run by the NRL. The player can choose to play for whichever club he plays for but the value attributed to the player within the salary cap will be the average of the offer accepted and any higher offers i.e. a notional market value based on open bids. IMO this could work once you iron out the details. Only problem is it would take away the incentive for clubs to make/arrange illegal payments outside the cap so the players association would never get on board.
The N.R.L need to force In a draft system, if the players don't like it, let them bugger off to the super league

Don’t get me wrong, he scored the best individual try I have seen in junior reps. Whilst scoring that try though he had 2 players at 2 different times unmarked but he took on the defenders himself, the bloke can play. Maybe his attitude was like that because Adrian had alot of sway at the Roosters. I would love for us to get Connor Tracey.

When Hill challenged it there wernt semi professional comps in America, Northern, Southern and Eastern Europe set up. There's no restraint of trade if they don't like it they can freely apply their trade there or in the super league. Bugger the players and rlpa.
is it not precedent now?

RLPA is pretty powerful mate they can't even get a bargaining agreement sorted no way they get a draft across the line.
who funds the junior leagues why should we fund balmain and south West if the juniors head into a draft, the NRL would need to fund the junior leagues.

Not saying a draft isn't the right way to gojust can't see it happening

I can't see it happening either but it would be the best way to start to sort this kind of stuff out. The N.R.L seriously need to start doing something though. One thing that Def needs to happen is about 6 - 7 clubs need to band togeather and scream about it. The Raiders on their own will just be dismissed, bit when half the comp come out then that would compel the N.R.L to act.

if I had of had any sway with the coaching staff I sure as hell wouldn't have had Douihie in the 6
so no wasn't me
All in fun man, I know you're a good sport.

I think we have some understanding around AD now - why he was so poor this year. A lot of hesitance and reluctancy around any physical stuff or pushing his body in regards to any attacking plays.

As soon as he did, he broke down.
His body hasn't been right.

We don't know what the future holds but it'll be hard, both physically and being away from the game for so long.

I wish him all the best and hope for a good recovery.

Connor Tracey could be our Nick Hynes either at 5/8 or HB. I just love the way he plays, just a natural footballer who can both ways - structured and eyes up. I dont think he would cost the earth but you can sell him the line of build the club around you.....he is not a marquee player but someone who if given the chance, could develop into one.

mate all good, it is shocking re AD though. Rugby is softer he could do ok there coming back from injury or SL

As for Brooks geez mate even I am losing patience and faith lol

I'm not buying the Chad talk - but that'd be the worst halves pairing in the comp.

Not a good idea imo.

Chad is not playing good tonight but he can steer the ship. Who else other than Sezer ? we won't get Dodd.
As for Brooks think only thing saving him is long service discount and the fact he will probably take a salary of 450k probably keeps him as a 6 only at the club. if he is the 7 next year God no
Do hope we promote Da Silva next year and play him off bench

There's rumours floating around the club won't offer Brooks a contract....

I'm not sure about that, but it'd be nice if it plays out like that.

A brand new halves pairing in 2024 that can actually compete. 🤞

Same i'd be ok with the Chad for a couple of years, but let's not kid ourselves into thinking the club arent going to re sign Brooks. If its not already done it will be in their plans at least for another couple of years. The fact there isnt much on offer or younger guys coming through makes it almost a certainty unfortunately.
The fact that Brooks has been on the open market for 6 months and hasn't had a contract offer from anyone tells you exactly why we shouldn't be offering him another contract
