Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Surely the nrl needs to have Atleast a sticky beak into the bulldogs after the allegations of Tino being offered a stake in a pub and the amount of players they’re turning over/signing there’s no way with the current squad and players they’ve signed coming in that club has money for Blake taffe or the fainu brothers

If they're fair dinkum they would mate %100
Gus has walked with impunity for a while now.
Inadvertently stuck his foot in it by calling out
Buzz. He's taken this personally and has been
very critical of Gus from the panthers days lol.
Who's to say they haven't offered similar deals
to current players or signed players already mate?
Don't think we've heard the end of this, I dunno

Let's be fair- Croft wasn't a fringe 1st grader any more than Prince was when he came to us from Broncos reserves.

The Broncos gig didn't work out. He was too young in a too young team. They needed Reynolds. They got Croft.

I think he's a very redeemable player. And Sezar- it's about what the player adds to them team. Sezar is an organiser. A bit dull. Not exactly exciting. But he has a pinpoint kicking game & experience leading teams around a field. Croft is the more dangerous player. And potentially the future 7 when one of our 73 young 5/8's are ready to step into 1st grade.

Compare Sezar/Croft to Wakeham/Brooks. Or Wakeham/Laurie. Or Brooks/Doueihi. Or Hastings/Brooks.

It's probably comparable to Hastings/Brooks. But I'd say it's a superior kicking game, at the least. Croft is every bit the running threat Brooks is.

Agree wholeheartedly with your post The Chad.
2022 man of steel. 15 assists in 16 appearances,
nothing to raise your nose at hey. Coming into
his prime too. It would take some cash to get
a release, but cash is 1 thing we do have...

Happy to give Pascoe credit for his off field work COE and profits what ever. However, we’ve been thru multiple coaches, players, staff nothings changed things have actually got worse it’s time for Pascoe to go
Agree, what’s the purpose of running a professional footy club? Winning games!
Hat sales, buildings centres of mediocrity and becoming the face of the fedora are wonderful achievements, but you’ll be remembered for overseeing an unrivalled period of decline in onfield results. Time to go!

I like Taaffe. If Brodie Croft rumours are true- they are quite similar.

I don't see how the Bulldogs even interest Taaffe. Is he playing #6 over Burton? #1 over Creighton?
Burton to 7, Taaffe to 6.

That said, Dogs could be just fishing. Gus writes a hard contract and wants to up the star power. ... Kinda unsure how they will lure someone like Taaffe.

Not sure but I think he has the early release clause if an NRL side comes knocking

Ill agree on Croft. I see someone that could be somewhere range between average halfback -> gun for us ... There is potential, there is risk. We need a half, I am worried that he did not perform at the NRL level, but he has performed at Super league level and maybe wants to come home.

Still would not break the bank getting him.

Sezer, REALLY? Aiden Sezer... 32 years of age okay he may have a year before the glue factory...

I honestly do not see how:
sezer/Croft is better then say Croft/Laurie, Wakeham/croft, Croft/Doueihi.
Were talking a player who in 2019 was unwanted in the NRL and barely up to first grade level then.
Sezer/Croft are not playing at the same club.

Reaching into the NRL hasbeen basket works at Melbourne. It 100% does not work here. Honestly I would rather we go Croft/Marshall.

Last week I mentioned Keppie as a player with the right effort & leadership qualities who would add value to our young squad.

“Sean Keppie - reportedly hard trainer, experienced, aggressive, brother or cousin of the Keppies in our CUBS, community award recipient, gettable.”

Is that a relation to the 7 wests SG ball player?

no news mate just going off the article that we are looking at Croft as he has the nrl clause where we need to pay a 100k plus transfer fee if we want him.
Honestly we are scraping the barrel with Croft let alone having to pay for the privilege of getting a release.
If we can't get Trindall then try again for mitchell pearce or Dodd
Croft couldn't play well in the storm system or the Broncos he will not be the answer here.
Would look at Sezer before Croft
I would rather go blind than look at either Sezer or Croft.

We will probably take Sezer. 100k+ is a lot of hat and scarf packages

I'm not looking for words of comfort from forum members but I can't recall being at a lower ebb in terms of how I feel about this football club. I've followed Wests and Wests Tigers since 1960 and have seen plenty of lows and the odd high. I recall feeling quite low just prior to the merger but getting a boost from the thought of two old clubs with great histories and similar cultures coming together to form a new club that would take the best from both clubs. The truth is WT are nothing like either the old Balmain or Wests.
Fast forward to 2023 and things have never been worse. We are headed towards the second successive spoon. We find it very difficult to sign quality players. Our administration and leadership is woeful and appears to be locked in place. Our ownership seems totally disinterested in bringing about the type of change we need to get us out of this rut.
The only plus is we have a few juniors coming through who show huge potential. But I've seen two things happen to quality juniors over the years - either they don't go on with it, which happens quite a lot, or they get poached by the bigger and stronger clubs, which we have seen happen to us so many times.
We need change and we need it now.
I felt worse with Balmain 1993-1995 - 1 wooden spoon, a second-last (only saved by Gold Coast) and 15th out of 20 teams on the brink of Super League. We only won a few matches because there were some other horrendous teams, and not many years after the Balmain 80s golden era.

Then 2001 with the club wasting all the merger money, Hopoate's finger and the cocaine bust.

Then 2017 when Tedesco, Moses and Woods all left and then the coach jumped ship.

2023 feels better than those, to me. Not good, but not as bad as those.

This boggles my mind, if I was wealthy and the Tigers never hit me up for a sponsorship I still wouldn't do bugger all for any of the other teams. How could I call myself a Wests Tigers supporter yet pump massive resources into other teams. Like Lee, he is our chair and major sponsor, but also is a minor sponsor for other clubs aswell. All that cash should be left with us not helping other teams.
Tells you what kind of fan Laundy was.
