Seems like Gus is just throwing darts hoping to hit a bullseye, look at the kid they got from the Broncos. They hyped him as the next best thing paid a big transfer fee for him and now have binned him off. They just seem so haphazard with their recruiting i can see it all ending spectacularly for them, i just don't know whether thats in a good or a bad way.

Either way it would be nice to know what is making the dogs an attractive place to sign at. I know we got the wooden, but the dogs are going just as bad. Are there 3rd party deals for fringeys (aside from pub shares for marquees)? I know their facilities were great, compared to the league standard, a few years back, but we (and I imagine others) would match them there now.

Side note: why is TPJ's 'retirement' not spoken about more in the media? Surely some sort of investigation, NRL or media, should be ongoing.

NRL quality prop’s don’t come around every day & Steph is NRL quality. He won’t break the bank for us either.

Steph is exactly the type of player we must keep at the club.

If he goes in 25 within 12mths most of our forward pack will be gone as well & we back to the drawing board yet again whilst he is just hitting his peak for a prop.

Correct , I would be doing all I could now to extend him and get around that shit clauses he has , extend till 2027 complete new deal ( 24,25,26,27 )

100% agree. If there is any player that they need to retain atm the moment it's Stef. There should be no talk of letting him go anywhere.

I find it hard to believe people don’t wanna pay for Stef? I would be throwing a high incentive based long contract at him asap. Just imagine this pack in a few years together and he will be the leader of the pack.

Bulldogs and Tigers look to be taking two different approaches in regards to filling up squad spots. Dogs after fringe first graders from strong clubs to develp their "culture" of hard workers. Tigers have tried to fill spots with promising juniors from within to create a sense of loyalty and identity. Interesting considering all the garbage Gus was talking about being a development club. Interesting to see who comes off best (although i'd argue that as it stands Bulldogs have a much better first 13 when all fit).

I'm hoping it's going to be us.

Canterbury are buying first graders but not leadership types in my opinion. That's where they are going wrong.

I think we need to sign Seyfarth because our back-up forward depth is horrible. I think the back-up outside backs are pretty good and Sezer as a back-up utility is good.

We really should be signing the best winger in the comp and that player should be a game breaker but we'll get Staines or another kid.

Does anyone really think that squad is a top 8 squad. The top team is full of development players.

In all seriousness I think the following players are the only guys who are established first graders:-
Nofo, Api, Klemmer, Bateman, IP and Twal.

Too early to write off Feledy. He's just turned 19 and he's played a few open aged games. He's got a teenager body, limited experience and was defending in a terrible defensive line. We'll know a lot more about his prospects in 2024.

I have no issue with an 18 year old playing a season of Flegg if the pathway was for him to debut late 2024. Obviously he should start in NSW Cup next year and go from there.
